Deletion[edit]

I object to speedy deletion of John Resig. Notable for his heading the jQuery project. — ceejayoz talk 15:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also object, on the grounds of the jQuery project mentioned above and the books he's written. [1] - Lexi (talk) 15:35, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, fix the article by adding more information and citing appropriate sources --Lachlan Hunt (talk) 15:42, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd object as well. jQuery is a big deal. Really big! --sfitchet

I also object. I added some info about the books he's authored and his large blog readership. Perhaps someone else can fill in details about talks he's given. I think these are improtant too. --74.94.171.25 (talk) 16:01, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I object for all the same reasons as everyone else. John is a notable figure in computer science and a facilitator positive change on the internet. -- Eli Thompson

I object. John’s work has profoundly changed how agile, cross-browser JavaScript development is done. (Heck, I have him listed as a hero of mine on a personal site.) --AlanH (talk) 20:01, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I object as well. Are you shitting me? Whoever nominated this for deletion is clearly a tool. --69.125.2.186 (talk) 04:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Public Figure[edit]

John Resig is totally a public figure. His invention of jQuery is extremely important to the future of the world. He will be famous and wealthy. He's a great man.Cadwallader (talk) 05:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who read comp.lang.javascript back when he was first writing jQuery has a very different opinion of the guy. He's good at marketing, but little else. jQuery doesn't enjoy the same reputation now as it did in 2009, thankfully, and we're happily starting to purge it from the web. It will ultimately be remembered as a huge mistake. As for his "greatness", you'll notice that he hasn't really done anything notable in a very long time. 76.190.231.25 (talk) 15:40, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
jQuery is brilliant, there is no other way to put it. I'm happy to explain to you why, but this margin really doesn't seem the place to do it. 131.155.106.191 (talk) 13:08, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maintenance and rating of JavaScript articles[edit]

Concerning editing and maintaining JavaScript-related articles...

Collaboration...[edit]

If you are interested in collaborating on JavaScript articles or would like to see where you could help, stop by Wikipedia:WikiProject JavaScript and feel free to add your name to the participants list. Both editors and programmers are welcome.

Where to list JavaScript articles[edit]

We've found over 300 JavaScript-related articles so far. If you come across any others, please add them to that list.

User scripts[edit]

The WikiProject is also taking on the organization of the Wikipedia community's user script support pages. If you are interested in helping to organize information on the user scripts (or are curious about what we are up to), let us know!

If you have need for a user script that does not yet exist, or you have a cool idea for a user script or gadget, you can post it at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests. And if you are a JavaScript programmer, that's a great place to find tasks if you are bored.

How to report JavaScript articles in need of attention[edit]

If you come across a JavaScript article desperately in need of editor attention, and it's beyond your ability to handle, you can add it to our list of JavaScript-related articles that need attention.

Rating JavaScript articles[edit]

At the top of the talk page of most every JavaScript-related article is a WikiProject JavaScript template where you can record the quality class and importance of the article. Doing so will help the community track the stage of completion and watch the highest priority articles more closely.
