BLP rules[edit]

@Mx. Granger please familiarize yourself with BLP rules and citation requirements before removing/reverting edits. DonGeiss (talk) 16:45, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:BLP, "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." We cannot claim that there are allegations of fraud against a living person without citing a reliable source. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 22:38, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The statement refers to a wiki article and is a link thereto. Does not need its own cite. Stop reverting, DonGeiss (talk) 00:30, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
DonGeiss, you are incorrect. A link to another Wikipedia article is clearly not sufficient. You must provide an inline reference to a reliable source, and keep in mind that this is the biography of the father, not the son. Cullen328 (talk) 00:45, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The statement refers to the exchange not the person. Please link to the policy that states a wikilink “clearly” requires a citation and what the citation should be (do you think it should be cited to itself? Lol” DonGeiss (talk) 00:49, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:BLPGROUP, "The extent to which the BLP policy applies to edits about groups is complex and must be judged on a case-by-case basis. A harmful statement about a small group or organization comes closer to being a BLP problem than a similar statement about a larger group; and when the group is very small, it may be impossible to draw a distinction between the group and the individuals that make up the group." In this case the company is only mentioned as a detail about the subject's son, who was the CEO of the company at the time, so I would say the BLP policy applies. In any case, the WP:V policy requires an inline citation for "any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged". —Mx. No one is challenging whether or not FTX collapsed, that is a fact. And no one is challenging whether or not there was impropriety, that is also a fact. The wiki article on the FTX collapse (which is linked) references among other things, fraud. FTX is not a “small group” it is/was a multibillion dollar company. Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter whether it’s mentioned as a “detail” or not, that is a criteria you have invented out of thin air. Details are subject to the same standards as broader topics. However, the only reason the son is mentioned in the article is because he is the link between the subject and FTX, therefore it is relevant to the other statements about FYX in the article, which I note you are not challenging either. I did not add the reference to FTX, however the article simply stated that his was the founder of a three letter company with no context. That description was in adaquate and incomplete and should either be removed, or made complete. Your issue seems to be just with the assertion that there was any impropriety before the Chp 11, however your position on that matter is not valid. See all of the other substance on Wikipedia for reference. Sorry, but your edits seem to be the result of some sort of bias, and I think you should step away from this article. Thank you for providing a source. In the future, please make sure to follow WP:BLP and WP:V. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 02:59, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

name change?[edit]

@Satoshi0x did bankman change his name or is this a legal name? i see no references to this elsewhere 128.12.123.137 (talk) 00:20, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User:Satoshi0x|Satoshi0x Your move seems misguided to me. I've requested help with this; please see my posts at the help desk. Could you please either explain your rationale for moving the article from Bankman to Treccia, or remove the redirect? Thanks, YoPienso (talk) 01:09, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Laundry list of charges against his son[edit]

@Leagle22: Wrt your edit and edit summary, m (Undid revision 1127335443 by Yopienso (talk) this list of charges is relevant to Joseph Bankman because he was an employee of his son's business and served as a conduit for the company's fundraising efforts.)

First, that wasn't a minor edit. More importantly, if you want to include that list for the reasons you gave, please incorporate the reasons into the narrative. Otherwise, it just looks like you're taking the opportunity to announce the son's failings. Thanks. YoPienso (talk) 08:10, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like too much detail about Bankman-Fried for this article. And @Leagle22: please don't mark substantive edits like this as minor. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 14:58, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
