The Hokie does a bench press or a push-up? I'm thinking you mean push-up.

Stick it in is a valid tradition[edit]

the stick it in chant is a valid tradition at lane stadium and shouldnt be removed. obviously edits bashing jim weaver shouldnt be allowed but stick it in was written by a member of the marching virginians and was a tradition at vt, removing it completely is ridiculous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.171.22.15 (talk) 05:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname?[edit]

I've lived in Blacksburg for 22 years and have never heard "Never Never Land" used to describe Lane Stadium. If I am wrong, where does it come from? Fightingobbler7 18:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)fightingobbler7[reply]

I take that back. I asked my mom (VT grad sometime in the 70s) and she remembers hearing it called that long ago, but now she doesn't remember why. I'd still like to know where it came from. This may be a shot in the dark, but in "Enter Sandman" there is a line that says "Take my hand, We're off to Never Never Land." Maybe that's what it refers to. VTHokies (talk) 15:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From 1995 to the present, the only time I've ever heard "Never Never Land" used with respect to Lane Stadium is on this page. There would be more justification for listing the "Terror Dome" as a nickname for Lane Stadium, seeing as Corey Moore referred to Lane that way during the 1999 or 2000 season. "Key" play dating[edit]

I was at Tech from 1982 to 1986 and we were using keys to signify a "key play" then. The key play was always a third or fourth down when the defense needed to prevent a first down. The text says it began in the late '80's but it was going on in the mid-80's for sure.
