- Added AP Macroeconomics as an AP course. which, it is.

- There is no group of male cheerleaders with the Red Scare marching band. I am in the marching band and this is in no way true. We do not support any types of dance teams on the field, while we are marching.

Wikipedia is not a soapbox[edit]

I removed this

In 2004, four students began competing for the high school's newly formed figure skating team. The team consistently placed in the top three at local competitions, and currently has seven members for the 2005-2006 season.

The Lawrence Wrestling Team was the CVC valley division champions most recently in the 2007-2008 season. Lawrence Wrestling is most notably known for having the only state champion to come out of Mercer County, Mark Savino, whose varsity career consists of 115 wins. Chris Lynn has been the coach for the past 29 years and has 194 dual match victories.

as it is unsourced and seems to have no encyclopedic merit. Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Please keep your opinions about yourself and your friends out of Wikipedia, and do not add something to wikipedia unless you can demonstrate that it is notable. Student Activism[edit]

I made a good faith effort to find secondary sources that show that Lawrence High school is notable for its student activism. Finding none, I removed the student activism section. Wikipedia is not a soapbox, people. Wood Thrush (talk) 19:00, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article smacks of recentism, specifically Lawrence High School (New Jersey)#Awards, recognition and rankings and Lawrence High School (New Jersey)#Athletics. I'm ending Alansohn (talk · contribs)'s attempt to edit war over it, but his attempts to WP:OWN this article don't change the facts. Toddst1 (talk) 20:27, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alansohn is a positive contributor to numerous articles and topics on New Jersey, including high schools, towns, and counties, and he does excellent work. He deserves credit for keeping NJ articles in top shape. He is perhaps one of NJ's top Wikipedians, perhaps second only to myself (I am just kidding). So my suggestion is to give some deference to his views, and not be so critical; in addition, he is an excellent referencer and researcher. And the "recentism" tag does seem, in my view, not very appropriate for this subject; I've never been a big fan of the tag to begin with, but the idea is to keep a subject which has been in the news intensely from getting overbalanced by recent events -- that is, when a subject is distorted by excessive recent coverage (ie a WP:NPOV issue. But, in this case, for a high school, including recent events such as awards and such (which people are interested in, clearly) I do not see any distortion. And I do not see any issues of article ownership either.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 21:28, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, recent events should be included, but since this isn't infotainment, rather an encyclopedia, having only the recent info "(which people are interested in, clearly)" isn't generally what we should do. For example, see the attempts to avoid recentism in Annapolis_High_School_(Maryland)#Athletics.
Regarding your reference to Alansohn's contribution history - that seems to be a popular defense of his actions lately. Something to think about. Toddst1 (talk) 21:57, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well. I'll say this. Both of you are much better, more knowledgeable contributors to Wikipedia than moi. Like, I'm not in the same league with either of you, not by a country mile. That said, so, perhaps you're wondering, how sharp contributors come to loggerheads on articles clearly as important and earthshaking and vital to humanity's collective intelligence as Lawrence High School. So I have my handyman theory (which is worse than handyman humor -- I have put people to sleep with this stuff, even when they're driving). It's the same thing as why there are more fights in ice hockey than there are in football. In ice hockey, unlike football, another player can emerge from any angle, sight unseen, without warning, and with little effort, land us on our backs on the ice. Like something we're working hard on, writing about, spending serious time improving, and then somebody else comes along, out of the blue, and rips it apart, tags it, removes chunks. So fights break out. And it is hard to see how both contributors are helping -- those making additions, those tagging, those removing, those referencing. And I think that's what happened here. That's why it is hard for us to be civil. I've had my share of whoppers, that's for sure.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 22:23, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To address the concerns raised by User:Toddst1. I'd love to find details of rankings from the 1960s and 1970s to be added to the article, and I'd love to add details of awards given in previous decades, but I've searched and found nothing. Athletic titles and achievements go back to the 1960s and cover just about every decade and I have no idea what else should be added. I have no idea where the systemic bias is in either section or how the article will benefit from having "recentism" tags in the article. Tag bombing articles is easy, and the argument of "that's why they're there" is far outweighed by what Template:Recentism states is the proper course of action when it says that "As with all maintenance templates (also called "tags"), the preferred course of action is to boldly edit and fix the problem rather than slapping a tag on it." Google / News / Archives are all there for you to use to find the material you seek. I encourage you, along with any and all other editors, to add material with sources to this article and if no sources are added other editors will do their best to find the sources for it, all of which will actually improve the encyclopedia. Content adds to articles; Tags add nothing. Alansohn (talk) 04:09, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, people, but it looks like this rather pointless feud is continuing, so you leave me no choice. An unemployed handyman walks up to a lawyer's house, rings the bell, and asks if there is any work. The lawyer hands the handyman a can of paint, says, go round back and paint my porch. The handyman returns 15 minutes later and says he's finished painting, and by the way, it was not a Porsche but a BMW.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 12:04, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm tossing in the towel. TWS, you win. God save us from further despicably punny jokes. Alansohn (talk) 16:16, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LHS is not in Lawrenceville[edit]

Lawrenceville is a separate part of Lawrence, which is where the Lawrenceville School is. Lawrence High School, on the other hand, is nowhere near it. In fact, Lawrence is basically a part of Trenton, along with Ewing and Hamilton, because the zip codes that are 086xx are all Trenton zip codes, minus the one Fort Dix uses for whatever reason. Anyway, most of Lawrence (minus the parts near Princeton), Ewing and Hamilton use Trenton as their address. So, please, either stop reversing my changes or change the information. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simasu01 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lawrenceville is a part of Lawrence Township, and both use the 08648 zip code, which is not assigned to Trenton. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:7120:AE00:86:EBDB:905A:70C9 (talk) 09:51, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
