Denny/Dunipace flag?[edit]

I know it is a relitavely small area, but I believe we should consider adding the Denny/Dunipace flag to the list. Qwerty8167 (talk) 12:55, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Glasgow flag[edit]

is there any.. proof, that the listed flag is the flag of glasgow? i can't find any proof that it's the flag and i've certainly never seen it myself. it just seems like someone took a banner version of the coat of arms and claimed its a flag? if that counts as a flag then there should be alot more flags on this list Clydiee (talk) 22:34, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. Yes, I do not see anything on the flag as well. If it is truly unsourced, then feel free to remove it. TY Moops T 22:38, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Though some googling reveals it might be accurate... maybe just seldom if ever actually used? Moops T 22:38, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
id assume all uses would just be taken from wikipedia, the creator of the image TilmannR gave no source other than the coat of arms and this picture of something that looks similar.
other flags seem to have this problem, the flag of Edinburgh sources the flag institute which im not sure is official, claiming to be an "adviser to the UK Parliamentary Flags & Heraldry Committee."
the flag of Stirling is based off of its coat of arms and another sourceless flag which its clearly trying to recreate, again with no proof of being official
Angus' flag is unofficial too but it does say "proposed"
Dundee's flag actually seems to be in use, flown on its town hall (although the picture on the page is very rough)
Montrose has the same problem as Stirling and Edinburgh, sourcing the coat of arms and a random flag#
the flag of Wick is sourced as "own work" and is also clearly a blown up version of the coat of arms
Aberdeen's flag has the same issue as Wick
no idea about the Denny and Dunipace one, its confusing me, but it is on the flag institute, which if a government body makes it valid
the Edinburgh and Denny-Dunipace flags are also listed on this BBC article
the rest seem to be real to me but obviously taken with a grain of salt Clydiee (talk) 14:36, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
just saw the other talk post about the flag institute being unofficial, that makes my job a lot easier Clydiee (talk) 14:37, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your amendments all look sound to me.
The Flag Institute may be a private body, but they are a de facto authority. That said, flags in Scotland must receive letters patent from the Lord Lyon: all those listed by the Flag Institute have received that, while those you have deleted have not.
