It would be nice to see a flag with the thistle. IP Address 19:37, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Highlands flag

I notice that the Highland flag has been removed from the [Scottish Highlands|Highlands] page with some comments about it on the Talk:Scottish Highlands page. I certainly have never seen it used in the Highlands. --jmb 10:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

  • P.S. The link to the site promoting the flag is dead, so the only reference seems to be on the HIE site which links to a defunct site. --jmb 10:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
The Highland flag appeared again. I don't see why it should be included.--Celtus (talk) 05:55, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
If there is no justification for it, bin it. Ben MacDui 08:43, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

But it was at that link when it was added, and this was presumably verified by a number of editors at the time.... Prof Wrong (talk) 15:31, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

It just seems to be one of many vanity flags that someone has designed and declared the flag for a county or region. I have never seen or heard of it being flown in the Highlands. The Flag Institute is not an official organisation, they are just a group of flag enthusiasts who are knowledgeable but no powers to recognise flags for particular areas. --jmb (talk) 17:22, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Duke of Rothesay

I came across an image showing the Standard of the Duke of Rothesay at the Chapel of the Order of the Thistle, St Giles' Kirk, Edinburgh. Although the Banner (square flag) of the Duke's arms are already displayed, I thought the Royal Standard (rectangular flag) of the same a worthy addition.
