Disputed because another article calls Montclair State "the second largest university in New Jersey."[edit]

This article says that Rutgers University and Thomas Edison State University are both bigger than Montclair State University, which would make it the third largest in the state.

I noticed that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montclair_State_University said "the second largest university in New Jersey."

So one of the articles must be wrong. I have temporarily changed the other article to say "second [or third]" until we can figure out which article was right.

https://collegestats.org/colleges/new-jersey/largest/ says Montclair State University is larger than Thomas Edison State University and is the second largest university in NJ (after Rutgers), but the third largest college or university, after Rutgers University and Bergen Community College (which is not a university). However, I am not sure whether that article is up to date or considered a reliable source. The numbers there are different from those in this article, but that may be due to differing standards of whether to include only on-campus students or also students who take classes remotely (online, by mail, etc.), especially because I heard once that many Thomas Edison students were in prison (that was about 30 years ago, and I don't know if it was true even then).

Please determine whether Montclair State University is the second or third largest and then update either the Montclair State University article or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colleges_and_universities_in_New_Jersey

Burlington College[edit]

A school by the name of Burlington College was founded in the NJ city by that name, by George Washington Doane in 1846. It lasted until 1881. This earlier institution has no connection with the Vermont school of the same name, lasting between 1972 and 2016. Someone with more knowledge of this subject should add this to the NJ list of dormant institutions. There is a redirect already, linking Burlington College (New Jersey) to Doane's biography; the school might merit its own article. Jax MN (talk) 18:30, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
