Removal of unreferenced red links[edit]

In the process of splitting the list from the main article, I attempted to reference the notability of as many names on the list as I could that did not have Wikipedia articles. WP:BIO applies to lists of inhabitants as well as individual articles, so if there is not an article to establish someone's notability, there should be references to their notability. I searched for appropriate references on all the names, for those that I could find references on, I added them; some seemed likely to have notability, but I was unable to located a good reference for, those I tagged for citation needed; finally those that I could not find enough information on to make it seem like I would find reference for, I removed. I invite anyone to re-add any names I removed if you have references to support their notability for inclusion. (or even better, if you can create an article about them)
I removed the following names:

I have not begun to sort through checking claims of residency of those on the list, and eventually, any person who doesn't have a reference to being from Woodstock in their articles should either have a reference in the list or should be removed. Monty845 07:20, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of people has a large number of incorrect people[edit]

Bowie was British not from Woodstock. Johnny Cash was from Arkansas. quote from his page - Greene was born in 1954 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Poorly Sourced[edit]

I have advocated in the past that this list should have some clear criteria and require a citation for each entry. Is the list meant to include only people who lived here permanently? Does a person who spent a month here recording an album get added? Do we distinguish between current and past residents? What about someone who vacationed here? Right now, the list is a hodge-podge of all of the above. And without reliable citations, this list is filled with lots of people who have likely never been to Ulster County at all. This page should be replaced with something that looks like this. Anson2995 (talk) 16:05, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List[edit]

Bowie did live in woodstock, but source may not be publically available.

Jeff Greene was linked to the wrong Jeff Greene. My minor edit for Jeff Greene needs repair to name link. Page needs to be created for Jeff Greene. Follow LinkedIn link to find more information for this Jeff Greene. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mgallagherus (talkcontribs) 05:30, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Musician Tim Hardin lived in Woodstock. His songs include "If I Were A Carpenter" "Reason to Believe" "Simple Song of Freedom" and many others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.246.184.157 (talk) 23:09, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of notability[edit]

Per WP:LISTPEOPLE, a lot of the names on this list shouldn't be here because they are of people for whom notability is not established and they are people for whom reliable sources are not offered. Given how much time was given at some point to establish both for some individuals, I'm assuming that this is list creep and it just needs some cleanup again. I'll do that now.--~TPW 02:52, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
