Proposed move[edit]

The current title is a bit of a mouthful and "Rulers of the Kingdom of the Isles" would be quite adequate. I'll move it there unless there are any objections. Ben MacDui 12:03, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I moved it to List of... as that is what it is, and the standard title for lists of rulers in Wikipedia. --ExperiencedArticleFixer (talk) 19:14, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kings of Mann and the North Isles names in Manx[edit]

Given the relative size and importance of the Isle of Man in the kingdom, and the divergence, by this time, of the Manx language from Gaelic, the Kings of Mann and the North Isles table should include the names of the kings in the Manx language.--5.150.92.174 (talk) 11:59, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you can point to a reliable source I'd be happy to look into this. Ben MacDui 12:30, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile, the list looks alien from a Manx perspective: those familiar with the historical name of King Gorry and the Manx placename 'Ronaldsway' will struggle to see Gorry and Ronald in the Gaelic orthography. This is English edition Wikipedia.--80.229.223.248 (talk) 20:54, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You may have seen the note about orthography in the lead section and this general issue is, I agree, a bit of a problem. It would not be hard to have two columns, one for a Gaelic name, one for a Norse name. I don't have a credible source to hand for a collection of Manx language or Manx English names. Again, if you can provide one (or more) I'd be happy to look into it. Ben MacDui 18:31, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
