Blackstone Audio, NOT Books on Tape, is the current copyright holder for Lois Mcmaster Bujold's books including: Shards of Honor (projected relase summer of 2009), Warrior's Apprentice, The Vor Gane, Cetaganda, Mirror Dance, Ethan of Athos (release spring 2009), Brothers in Arms, Memory, Komarr, A Civil Campaign, Winterfair Gifts, and Diplomatic Immunity. Shards of Honor, Barrayar and Borders of Infinity was produced earlier by The Reader's Chair but is no longer in business. Shards of Honor may be re-produced by Blackstone to follow their release of Shards of Honor but I haven't confirmed this. Also available from Blackstone Audio: The Curse of Chalion, Paladin of Souls and The Hallowed Hunt of the Chalion Series and The Sharing Knife Series; Books One through Three (Beguilement, Legacy and Passage). Book Four-Horizon-may be in the works as well but I haven't confirmed this info either. All of LMJ's audiobooks currently released by Blackstone are available in library, MP3, Retail, playaway and tape/cassette versions as well as on Audible.com. Discussion[edit]

Are you sure about Shards of Honor being set five years before Miles' birth? It ends with Cordelia and Aral getting married, and she became pregnant almost immediately afterwards (she tells Drou this in Barrayar when asked how she first knew she was pregnant). Unless the action in Shards of Honor lasts for a very long time, I think one year before Miles' birth would be closer.

The action in Shards of Honor does indeed last a very long time: there might well be a several-year lapse between the first meeting of Aral and Cordelia (can't recall whether on Escobar or Sergyar) and their marriage. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 11:08, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

I note that there was originally some small question over the licensing status of the current picture (to be found further down the same page) which was eventually solved. End of series ?[edit]

Per the Baen website (http://www.baen.com/cornerstone.htm), another book has been contracted. I thought I saw a 2008 release date somewhere, but it's not in this press release, so consider that unconfirmed. dafydd 00:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The next Vorkosiverse book hasn't yet been started. Lois is finishing off the second two books in The Sharing Knife. I seriously doubt she'd allow more than one book to be published simultaneously, or even close to it. The fact that the books are in different genres, and published by different publishing houses, is irrelevant. Neither she nor her publishers will wish to take the chance that having more than one new book out will damage sales.

Of course, Lois's legion of fans would buy as many books as were published, whenever they come out, but she and her publishers will wish to maximize the sales of each and every book. Therefore, I suspect that 2009 is the earliest likely date of publication for the next Vorkosiverse book. There is one decided advantage: She writes much, much faster than she used to. Early in her career, it took nearly two years for each book. She now seems to finish books in less than a year. That is our (her fans') good fortune.

Of course, that means the other two prospective books in the Chalionverse are somewhere out in the nebulous future. [sigh] --Tygerbryght 22:26, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Order[edit]

According to this, Bujold responded to the question:

"BOO-jold," with a hard "j" like "joke" or "June." My mother, not a Bujold

reader, pronounces it "BOO-zhold," which drives me batty. ...

"Actually, my own pronunciation of the name (my married name) slides around a bit. Depending on where it falls in the rhythm of a sentence, the accent shifts back and forth from the first syllable to the second. I do usually soften the "j", though not quite that much." Heinlein's hugo count[edit]

The first paragraph says this:

Bujold is one of the most acclaimed writers in her field, having won the prestigious Hugo Award for best novel four times, matching Robert A. Heinlein's record.

And yet, her list of Hugos in the lower part of the page shows five awards, plus a special award for a series. This leads me to believe she's actually in the lead. The link does not credit Robert Charles McMaster as an editor in any book in the series, or the series as a whole.
