Regarding Speedy Deletion of a Particular Section in Article[edit]

Please let me know how can delete a particular section from a article? For eg. i want to delete Distance Education or Violence on campus from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovely_Professional_University. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Test.quality3 (talkcontribs) 07:17, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain why you think these should be deleted? ./zro (⠠⠵) 06:44, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I took a look at this content as well. Sometimes people introduce information that is undue weight and should not be included in an article. However, based on the large amount of news that this incident received, it would appear that the addition of the content to the article is appropriate. I would suggest that an editor with a NPOV take a look at the wording; however, I agree that the content should remain. --UsedEdgesII (talk) 17:14, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem removed[edit]

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. July 2015 copyright infringement dispute[edit]

Hi, User:Psychonaut and User:Jagdishsarai. I searched for the sources. Isn't most of this from mirror www.freenewspos? How much is really copy pasted from http://collegedunia.com/ or elsewhere? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:29, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The latest text appears to be copied and/or closely paraphrased from the LPU page on Recognition & Approvals. (Note that most of the text on that page is hidden behind "Read More" links.) —Psychonaut (talk) 07:30, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

LPU[edit]

Please add some content. to the LPU university — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.225.197.137 (talk) 11:26, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

more of a promotion piece[edit]

Looks like an ad to me. Any editors willing to assist me cleanup should lemme know on my talk. Arkhaminsanity (talk) 15:40, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just take a hatchet to it. The article's been pruned down several times before but certain editors (possibly people with a connection to the university) keep puffing it up. —Psychonaut (talk) 19:54, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Arkhaminsanity: Thanks for your work in cleaning up the article. —Psychonaut (talk) 11:11, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! There's still much left to do Arkhaminsanity (talk) 17:20, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Small edit war[edit]

Regarding: this.

Ping:

You two seem to be warring over it. Please discuss things here and work it out rather than reverting each other back and forth. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:55, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've actually attempted to contact him on his talk page multiple times but he ignores the messages and reverts edits anyways. King Kunta (talk) 16:55, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Luigi1337 (King Kunta). Thank you. I posted at Elispall's talk again just now. If he persists, he may end up blocked from editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:18, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Anna Frodesiak, thanks for initiating the discussion. I added references to certain sections of the article with the intent to improve it as also desired in the page's maintenance template. However, my edits were reverted and termed as promotional. Please you suggest is it promotional to add references to a page or is it promotional to update information about a university's affiliation? If so, i would not insist on keeping the same on the page. Further, i never ignored Luigi1337 (King Kunta) message; in fact i reverted to his message and i do make sure to revert to any message posted on my talk page. Elispall (talk) 10:20, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Elispall. First, please feel welcome here. Second, I am not here at this talk page to judge whether or not the content is promotional. I am here as an administrator. Please, you two, and others who are watching, please decide on what is acceptable content. Best wishes to all. I am here if you need me. Just ping me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:14, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced content[edit]

I've removed some unreferenced content from the article. In this page, just as in every other Wikipedia article, content must be verifiable by reference to independent reliable sources. So, while some or all of that stuff may be true, if it is not verifiable it has no value here and should not be re-added to the page without references – please read WP:BURDEN. Violence In LPU[edit]

A Mizoram student was killed by a group of Sudanese and a Tanzanian student in Lovely Professional University in 2011 .[1] Iamrohitkumar (talk) 02:17, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: Not sure where to add this information in the article. It is basically stub and need more information about the school itself before section about violence –Ammarpad (talk) 07:45, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Attendance[edit]

Does anyone know of a recent reliable source for the attendance? Our cited source (from 2010) says 24,000. In the last few weeks we have had edits that changed the attendance to: 25,000; 30,000; 40,000; and even 70,000, all without changing the cited source. Meters (talk) 06:06, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is quite regular for this page, which is why we revert on sight. --Muhandes (talk) 09:45, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Promotion[edit]

LPU appears to do a lot of promotion, including using techniques such as planting "sponsored" news stories. We need to keep an eye on this in relation to WP:PROMO, WP:COI and WP:SPS. - Sitush (talk) 12:43, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I note that they have jumped on the current bandwagon relating to Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo Olympics. Until he or someone independent of LPU says that LPU has given him a cash reward, we say nothing. Far too often in India, announcements of cash awards etc are made for the sake of publicity but do not actually happen in practice. - Sitush (talk) 12:45, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why was a large chunk of this article devoted to covering which LPU students competed at the Tokyo Olympics? I've removed it. If the athletes are individually notable then write articles about them and list them as notable alumni, but the fact that some of the school's students are athletes at the Olympics has nothing to do with the school. I'm sure its students have participated in many other notable athletic events (Commonwealth Games, previous Olympics, etc), but we make no mention of them. Organization and administration[edit]

Replying to:-

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

This section is missing information about What does the Vice-chancellor do? Does the university not have a vice-chancellor? How can Ashok Mittal see day-to-day affairs as he is a Member of Parliament in New Delhi?. Please expand the section to include this information. Further details may exist on the talk page. (April 2022)

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Mr. Mittal (chancellor) though not holding any direct government position is acting as chancellor of an university which is his main source of income. He has not mentioned being chancellor of the university in his election affidavit and has mentioned his name as only Ashok, without any surname.

I am not sure why so many inconsistencies.

Is Preeti Bajaj still the VC, if not who?[edit]

On her twitter (X) https://twitter.com/preetib123?lang=en she mentions 'former Vice Chancellor Lovely Professional University'. Awsib (talk) 12:03, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pro chancellor, Vice Chancellor?[edit]

There appears to be much ambiguity about leadership in the University.

  • Rashmi Mittal is sometimes listed on their website as Pro-Chancellor (a position not found in the Establishment Document of the University), along with a Vice-chancellor.
  • Other times the position and mention of Vice-Chancellor is removed altogether from the website, while Rashmi Mittal remains pro-Chancellor
  • And sometimes (now), she is the Vice-Chancellor.

Unfortunately, there is no WP:RS on the University leadership, or its change, or anything in the public. User4edits (talk) 17:27, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to correct myself as I mentioned that both are the same in my edit summary. It seems that they are different. Primary sources are often considered reliable and according to their latest article, [1], LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal honoured as the ‘Most Influential Business Woman". Here is a independent reliable source [2]. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 18:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Jeraxmoira, as you would see in my edit summary (the one you have undone), I have mentioned as per src. If you go to the src next to that text [3], it says:
Rashmi Mittal Vice - Chancellor
The last update you cited above is a year ago. And as I do not need to show how Pro & Vice Chancellor are different, it would be great if you could make the necessary changes/reverts. Thanks, User4edits (talk) 21:52, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is only one instance of her being referred to as the vice chancellor, but there are multiple sources confirming that she is the pro-chancellor. Unless you have some independent reliable source, we'll stick to what is published in their news releases as well as in independent news sources. You can always start an RfC if you feel otherwise. Cheers Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 05:24, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Campus Area[edit]

In 2006, the LPU had an area of 112 acres as per the UGC inspection committee report (Pg 3).

In 2021, as per the Self Study Report submitted to NAAC (Pg 13) by LPU themselves, they claimed an area of 90 acres only. Thanks, Please feel free to ping/mention -- User4edits (T) 04:11, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
