Announcers[edit]

Can we add the years and the level of prominence they were at—Preceding unsigned comment added by Levineps (talkcontribs)

That criticisms section is totally unnecessary. Its just a list of things that annoy some individuals with blogs. It's all opinion and most of it is ridiculous. Case and point "Many did not like the way Zelasko abruptly and in many fans' eyes, awkwardly cut Harwell off half way during a pre-game interview." That was the directors fault, she was told to do that. "apparently having an annoying vocal delivery". Come on. The whole section should be deleted or significantly improved. Either that or I'm going to add some of my own criticisms, like "The theme music is too upbeat, incompatible with the typically slow pace of the game".--BoyoJonesJr 17:48, 23 October 2006 (UTC) P.S.- I'll clean up that section at some point if nobody objects.--BoyoJonesJr 18:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

saturday game[edit]

Do you know that there are quiet a few more teams on the major league level other than the NY Yankees? Your just to bias and to there's to much $ to change FOX'S mind. Did you know variety is the spice of life? Tampa Bay is the American League champs and there still not getting any respect. Please help us baseball purest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.76.32.181 (talk) 22:26, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

delay on fox tv[edit]

Why is there a delay when watching the game on Fox tv compared to watching the game on the Canadian channel. Yankymann (talk) 19:44, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto Blue Jays games conflicting with Fox?[edit]

"The Toronto Blue Jays sometimes have home games that conflict with Fox's Saturday afternoon telecasts, as Canada is not subject to Fox's exclusivity."

Name one. Since 2007, when Fox went to 4 p.m. games on Saturday, all Jays Saturday home games have had 1 p.m. starts, so I don't see how there would be a conflict.

Now if you're talking Jays road games, there have been a few of those that conflicted with Fox.

Digital on-screen graphics[edit]

This article does a great job explaining the history of the digital on-screen graphics that Fox has had over the years. However, we have no visual examples to show what these graphics look like. Without visual examples, this section is pointless. Low resolution examples need to be uploaded using File Upload Wizard and shown in this section to ensure accuracy of what the graphics look like. Thank you.

Citation Check[edit]

Since there are vast sections of this article with no references at all, I've tagged it as needing further certification.

The article seems to rely heavily on what look (to me) like blogs: http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com; http://fangsbites.com; http://drewzuhoskydaily.wordpress.com and http://www.tvpredictions.com (These are probably the least reliable looking sources, but there are others which look suspect to me too.) There's also 4 links to Facebook. I think none of these satisfy WP:RS.

This statement seems to be based on the user comments in the reference:

Many didn't like the way Zelasko abruptly—and in many fans' eyes, awkwardly—cut Harwell off just 17 seconds into a pre-game interview, as Harwell was detailing the accomplishments of famous Tiger Al Kaline.

https://web.archive.org/web/20051028032742/http://www.bravesbeat.com/bravesjournal/bristol/archives/2005/09/first_round_gam_1.html

I think that's one is particularly bad and should be removed.--Otus scops (talk) 09:07, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the article needs improvement... but a blanket "this article needs more sources" tag leaves other editors wondering where to start. It would probably be more helpful to address the problems on a section by section basis (or even on a statement by statement basis)... so that people can focus on where the problems actually are. Blueboar (talk) 12:28, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Blueboar. I think "wondering where to start" was pretty much where I got to. It seems to me that about 50% of the sections are complete unreferenced and could be classed as WP:Original Research. As an example, the section on Digital on-screen graphics has no reference until you get to the current system. Perhaps the problem here is more one of WP:Notability rather than lack of references?

MLB only on pay TV[edit]

I'd like to see this article include information on the percentage of MLB on free TV vs. pay TV. After reading this article I was confused on how much Fox was moving games to FS1 and FS2. Turner and Disney were moving all of their MLB programming to pay TV. Will there be any games left on free TV? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeffreyLMason (talkcontribs) 22:39, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MLB on FOX[edit]

I saw on the sports schedule they are still calling it MLB on Fox. They are using Fox Major Leauge Baseball as a secondary title. ACMEWikiNet (talk) 01:29, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, ACMEWikiNet. Their social media accounts are even MLB on Fox. I think it needs to be moved back. Corky | Chat? 23:19, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fox MLB (Let's confer...)[edit]

The show's legal name is called Major League Baseball on Fox like other Fox Sports properties similar to CBS Sports' properties. Social Media accounts are even (Sports name) on Fox. I think we can rename this article back to (Sports Name) on Fox. ACMEDeputy (talk) 23:36, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it would be hard to convince others without asking The Baseball WikiProject about it. I'll ask them in a few minutes.Z.I. Barbour (talk) 22:20, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The logo has the word FOX on top, and the MLB logo on the bottom. If you read it left to right, top to bottom, the MLB on FOX log say FOX MLB. Can I Log In (talk) 19:27, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. The official show title for this FOX Sports' property is called Major League Baseball on Fox. My source reference is per Facebook.com/MLBonFOX. Even though I believe the article title should be moved to Major League Baseball on Fox, I am requesting comment from other editors so that we can reach WP:CONSENSUS on this topic. Request of LCS Postseason Coverage section to be edited[edit]

Hi,

I edited out "In 2018, the Fox network aired Game 2 of the NLCS (as the game was on a Saturday Afternoon, meaning it would not interfere with FOX's primetime schedule), while Fox Sports 1 aired the remaining games of the series (1, 3-7)." with "In the 2014 NLCS and the 2015 ALCS, Game 1 was on FOX and the rest were on FS1. In 2016, the NLCS was entirely on FS1. In the 2017 ALCS and the 2018 NLCS, Game 2 was on FOX and the rest were on FS1.". If anyone could edit that section and make it more clean, that would be great. Can I Log In (talk) 02:39, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

One of the 2 MLB on FOX Sports theme was heard on the other network (FOX Theme on FS1, FS1 theme on FOX)[edit]

In 2014, the 2007–2010 jazz theme was brought back for regular season MLB on FS1. The NFL theme was retained for MLB on FOX, including FOX Saturday Baseball, Baseball Night in America, the All-Star Game and all coverage of the postseason. However, occasionally one of the two themes was heard on telecasts that were designated for the other, implying that the designations are slightly fluid.

Here is what I think is happening.

For 2018 MLB on FOX Gamebreaks (like NFL on FOX Gamebreaks), and the last Baseball NIght in America in 2019, the MLB on FS1/FSN theme was used. And for times when during MLB on FS1 telecast, probably if they were promoting an MLB on FOX Broadcast, the MLB on FOX theme would be used.

So take the idea above and edit it in some way. Can I Log In (talk) 02:09, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This article is too long and convoluted[edit]

Simply speaking this article is way too long and complicated and should be shortened while other supplemental articles should be created. I suggest we model this off of ESPN Major League Baseball and their supplemental articles Monday Night Baseball, Wednesday Night Baseball and Sunday Night Baseball. I suggest adding a Major League Baseball on FS1 and a Fox Saturday Baseball article. Thoughts? Mannysoloway (talk) 14:47, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article is indeed way too long. The solution is to trim the garbage into something meaningful though, not to make even more articles. Wizardman 03:22, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And now with the split we have 3 articles of poor quality instead of 1, sigh. Wizardman 13:50, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Major League Baseball on FoxMLB on Fox – The correct programming title is MLB on Fox (with MLB not spelled out), per FoxSports.com & IMDb.com Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:21, 9 October 2022 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). • Support move. Also look into moving the similar TBS article. O.N.R. (talk) 15:45, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think this move should be moved to MLB on Fox and MLB on TBS respectively since that way it lines up with other sports properties however for the Fox version there should be some way to also incorporate Fox MLB as well Hoopstercat (talk) 23:42, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hoopstercat: What I'm proposing is simple: the article title & associated talk page should be moved to MLB on Fox. However, we can say in the first paragraph something like, MLB on Fox (also known as Fox MLB)... I would have done it already, but I am not able to do so by myself and that's why I need someone to technically move the article title & associated talk page on my behalf. Also, I would still prefer it if more editors interested in this discussion would please leave comments explaining how they feel about it at their own convenience so we may reach a WP:CONSENSUS. MLB on FoxMajor League Baseball on Fox – the article title should be reverted back to where it was previously, in order to conform with naming conventions for other "Major League Baseball on X" article titles, templates & namespaces. Please comment so we may reach a consensus on what the article & page title should be. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:03, 31 July 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). • Looking back at the previous RM, it seems to me that everything there was correct and is still correct – in particular, that MLB is not spelled out here. And it's often the case that acronyms are potentially ambiguous standing alone but unambiguous in particular contexts, like in the context of "on Fox". Adumbrativus (talk) 01:20, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Consistency does not trump accuracy, and this appears to be the name of the programming. We do not need to enforce consistency by creating a new description of program contents. Further, it was relatively simple to find a large number of articles with similar titles: MLB Sunday Leadoff, MLB on Five, MLB Network Showcase, MLB Tonight, MLB Whiparound. Dekimasuよ! 05:56, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per Dekimasu. estar8806 (talk) 16:39, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
