Untitled[edit]

my suspicion is that "Della Strada" has merely a tutelary function, and/or describes a place of apparition, paralleling Our Lady of the Woods, Our Lady of the Pillar etc., and does not refer to Christ as "The Way" at all, so I have removed the unsourced claim. --dab (𒁳) 15:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the church came first, then the icon. So your guess was 50% right. History2007 (talk) 15:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't talking about either the church or the icon, but about the name itself. Also, I am not convinced that "the church came first". Apparently this is about a 5th century sanctuary that came to be called by this name, predating both the church and the iccon.--dab (𒁳) 16:56, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and the icon got the name from the santct/church. History2007 (talk) 17:03, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

date of feast[edit]

I think the link at (6) is a bit confused. The Feast of Mother of the Society of Jesus is April 22; the Feast of Our Lady of the Way is May 24 - see http://www.sjweb.info/resources/Calender_Liturgy/2012-18_Proper%20Calendar%20SI_ENG.pdf --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 12:25, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-Restoration[edit]

Is there a freely available image of the Pre-Restoration version of the image? There is a significant change in color after later paint layers were removed, so it would be valuable for comparison in the encyclopedia. It would also be interesting if the method for transferring the fresco to canvas could be discussed and/or wikilinked to. –Zfish118talk 12:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"a depiction of an Hodegetria"[edit]

It would be good to have a source to support this, preferably from art history or something like that. The page 'Hodegetria" does not mention this image at all, and the examples all have Mary pointing to her son. This looks like synthesis or original research. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 12:37, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
