If this school system is as large as it says it would be noteworthy. I did do some copy editing and formatting to help "Wikify" it. I would think the school web site would be a useful and acceptable source to help the topic define itself, but the other source "Global Good News" probably not. Whether the topic is WP:Notable ... not sure. There are certainly many less noteworthy topics on Wikipedia given the size of this school system. Google news archive search gives 241 hits, but most of that has to do with small,everyday school affairs as far as I can tell. I live in India on the MCEE campus and work through the organizations that are associated with the MVM system. It is as big as they say and it is very noteworthy. While hardly disinterested I am nevertheless committed to accuracy on this and all such web entries. The problem with the size statement is that there are no official docs in India that list the size of school systems. If you talk to anyone who has traveled around India though they know how big this system is and that they haven't seen anything else like it in terms of numbers of kids. There is a chain of schools for little children that has 300 branches but these are typically houses converted into Kindergarten plus primary school. The MVMs are averaging several hundred kids per school and the k-8 ones are just in the rural areas or feeder schools for the k-12 larger schools in the same town. I've been thinking how to suggest more details for this entry for the guy who is entering it. Maybe we can put in more info from the MVM web pages which are extensive. Hansa, Thank you for your interest in this article. It is nice that you have first hand experience with the article topic but that does not meet Wiki standards as a source of objective information. The official website is good for self-defining the topic but it would be very good if we had some second party sources such as newspaper and magazine articles to substantiate information currently in the article and also information that we may add to the article. Are there any news articles on the Internet like this? If there are none available in English than we can use articles in Hindi. Please let us know what you can find. Your most recent edit hardly seems supported by the source. The article talks about the school hosting a TM Sidhi bounce-a-thon to affect climate change. To call that an educational program is more than a bit of a stretch. Fladrif (talk) 20:29, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Growth and sources[edit]

In the past week th length of this article has roughly quadrupled. Yet in the entire article I see only a few independent sources. Most of it just seems to be highlights from the school's own websites. If there is no independent notice of a campus, then let's just include its existence in a list of campuses rather than going into non-notable details. I recently added several new, secondary sources which now comprise the majority of the sources and content. As for the 'non-notable details' please keep in mind that this is a school system in a developing country and that this is a developing article. Give it some time. Yes, you are very correct. Secondary sources are the backbone of Wiki. I just took a careful look at the citations. At present there are 23 citations and only 11 of them are from secondary sources. With this is mind I will withdraw some of the primary sourced content and place it here for storage. This will help the situation. But I also request your patience as I locate more sources over time. Going through the article just now I noticed that many of the primary source citations that were placed in the article upon its inception have since been supported by secondary sources. So I went the through the article and removed all the primary sources that were supported by secondary sources. I also reduced the number of subsections in the Campus section of the article. At the present moment, there are about 30 sentences in the article with 20 citations. Out of the 20 citations only five are primary sources. So I think the article now conforms with Wiki guidelines. That source refers to the "Maharishi National Cultural Celebration" and the invitees were mainly MVM students, from what I can tell. That one MVM school got more awards than other MVM schools at an MVM school system pageant doesn't seem particularly noteworthy for an encyclopedia.   Will Beback  talk  21:31, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
