Is the story depicted in Zero Mission, up until Samus destroys Mother Brain, the same story depicted in the original Metroid? More specifically, do these games occupy the same spot on the Metroid timeline? Or does Zero Mission have a different place on the timeline, prior to or after Metroid?

What the letter should include[edit]

Also, "Does the story in the Zero Mission manual lead into Zero Mission?", and "What is the correct timeline for the games?" Dai Grepher: It should clearly state that there is confusion among the Metroid fan community of whether or not Zero Mission is a remake of Metroid or a story that takes place before Metroid. It should also ask Sakamoto to give a clear answer of what place Zero Mission has in the timeline so that his game can be clearly understood from that point onward. I also think that we should also request that he answer this question in a statement published in a gaming magazine, such as Nintendo Power or EGM. So first we need to make him feel compelled to answer this, then answer with a media that cannot be altered by anyone here. I do not trust his answer in the hands of the remake side. If he answers that it is a prequel, the remake side may change his words or simply destroy the letter. This is why it is important that Sakamoto answer this in an official statement that can be read by all without obstruction. I think it'd be asking a lot for him to go to the trouble of getting a statement published in a gaming magazine, to satisfy one fan. I also think that your fears of the letter being altered or destroyed by "the remake side" are completely unjustified. This isn't some vendetta against you, it's preserving accuracy in the article. I, for one, would have no problem with changing the article to state the game as a prequel, if Sakamoto specifically stated so. Currently, the overwhelming amount of consensus and evidence point otherwise, and that's what matters. My ego isn't going to be so hurt from losing an argument over a video game that I would tamper with evidence to prove myself right.
