Article title[edit]

@Qby and MarkH21:

Should this article be titled Wang Quanze, or Michael Wang (basketball)? Though he is a Chinese basketball player, he has lived in the US since age 14, and many US sources call him Michael Wang. Natg 19 (talk) 23:44, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good question... he is listed at UPenn as "Michael Wang" but at FIBA as "Quanze Wang". Indeed, most of the English-language news articles from the US refer to him as "Michael Wang" as well while English-language news articles from China or FIBA refer to him as as "Quanze Wang". I'm not sure which is more prevalent among all English-language sources given his great popularity in China. — MarkH21 (talk) 00:15, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I only see 5 Google News results for "Quanze Wang" but over 800 for "'Michael Wang' basketball". I'm going to boldly move the page per WP:COMMONNAME; feel free to WP:RM if there are objections.—Bagumba (talk) 09:41, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bagumba: A massive number of those Google News hits are from unrelated people named Michael Wang (an incredibly common name), but I still do see more reports on this particular person under "Michael Wang" than "Wang Quanze". Regardless, I don't feel particularly strong about either naming order for the article so this is fine. — MarkH21 (talk) 19:29, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
