Merge[edit]

There is some excellent information in the newly-created article Kentucky Female Orphan School that could beef up the history section of this article. I propose that it be merged into this article, since it appears that they are the same institution. Only the name seems to have changed. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 15:53, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When I created the article in 2005 I added a history section that include content about Kentucky Female Orphan School. Evidently it was removed later. I would be in favor of including information about Kentucky Female Orphan School in this article. I have no strong view on whether the articles should be merged. My grandfather was one of the origional founders. I have visited many times, and both articles do refer to the same place and should probably be combined. Daniel Starks 65.103.190.52 (talk) 02:08, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it depends how much info there is about each as an independent entity. If the orphanage was merely converted to the college, with no substantial overlap, and they have mostly buildings in common, I don't think they would be merged. The info on the orphanage is pretty brief as of this date, and much more could probably be added. 98.220.165.202 (talk) 15:13, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Desegregated?[edit]

I thought Midway University now admits males. Nicmart (talk) 07:23, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nicmart: As noted in the last sentence of the first paragraph in the lead, admissions of male students will begin in fall 2017. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 15:28, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Midway already has an active men's baseball team, so it is no longer the only women's college in Kentucky. Nicmart (talk) 14:24, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update of profile introduction[edit]

My name is Ellen Gregory and I am the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Midway University. A lot has changed at Midway University since we changed our name in 2015 and went fully online in 2016. I am submitting this profile information to help people better understand the University's current profile

Profile Midway University is a private, co-educational institution located in the greater Lexington, Kentucky area. Founded in 1847, Midway University’s student body consists of nearly 700 traditional undergraduate students attending classes on its residential campus in Midway, Kentucky. Total enrollment (including traditional and online undergraduate, graduate, and dual credit students) is more than 1,800 students from across Kentucky, the United States, and several foreign countries.

Undergraduate students can select from 20+ career-focused majors within the University’s three schools – the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business, Equine and Sport Studies, and the School of Health Sciences. The University has 27 athletic teams including two equestrian teams. Academic and athletic scholarships are available. Graduate programs are offered in the areas of business (MBA), education (MED) and nursing (MSN).

Located on a 200-acre working horse farm and in a bucolic rural location, the campus is both beautiful and safe. The charming town of Midway includes fine dining, boutiques, antique stores and art galleries, and a train that runs through town (and campus) daily. The larger urban areas of Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati, Ohio are within easy driving distance and offer opportunities for internships and jobs. For students looking for a unique, private education, Midway University has a long history of providing support to its students, and always making college affordable. In fact, Midway University is the “Most Affordable Private University in Central Kentucky.”

Visit the campus in person or online to find out more about admissions, academic programs, and scholarships: www.midway.edu/experience. Students interested in athletics can also express their interest by completing a recruitment form at www.gomidwayeagles.com

Building Section edits

remove Starks Hall and Learning Resource Center and replace with Stark Center information as this building updates and replaces those two

Starks Center (ST)

Constructed in 2010, the Starks Center doubled the academic capacity of Midway University and provides an enhanced learning environment. The building houses four conference rooms, five academic suites, 48 faculty offices, and a student lounge for a total of 30,242 square feet. The offices of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director of Accreditation & Academic Initiatives, the Office of the Registrar, the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, and the Deans and faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Management are in the Starks Center. Many administrative offices are housed in Starks Center while the Marrs Hall renovation is taking place including Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing.

Update Marrs Hall information Marrs Hall, easily identifiable by its clock tower, was completed in 1941. The building houses the Office of the President, the Arthur Young Lloyd Board Room, and the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations. The building is currently under renovation and when completed will be the home of the Ann J. Bowling Welcome Center which includes the Admissions, Business and Financial Aid Offices on the second floor. The Offices of Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing will be on the lower level when completed.

Add this new building Hunter Field House

The 20,000 square foot Hunter Field House (opened June 2020) includes an auxiliary gymnasium, a weight and cardio room, an elevated walking track, two locker rooms, an athlete study room, coaches’ offices and meeting space. The Hunter Field House is used mostly for athletic practices and some special events. The Hunter Field House was made possible by the generous donation of Midway University Trustee Janet Green Hunter and her husband, Richard.

For athletics a lot has changed. It would be best to use this information. The University offers 27 competitive athletics teams including 2 equestrian (hunt seat and western). Student interested in joining the athletics program can learn more at www.gomidwayeagles.com and reach out to a coach by completing a recruitment form.
