NPOV, Need for Citations in Biography section[edit]

Does anyone agree that the Biography section needs to be edited?

"Molotov's debut album ¿Dónde Jugarán Las Niñas? was a massive success both in Spanish and English speaking countries." --is "massive" neutral?

"However, their lyrics, mostly a mix of politics, sex and Hispanic slang meant they were banned in their home country of Mexico and faced a lawsuit from Spain." --citation?

"To underscore this aspect, the cover features a woman's legs seductively displayed in school uniform." --is this relevant?

"Indeed, the cover resulted in a lawsuit from a Catholic school who claimed that the school uniform worn by the woman on the cover was an exact match to their own uniform." --citation? is this even relevant?

"The band also faced a further hurdle when one of their songs was misinterpreted as a slur against homosexuals. Yes, the article is pretty sloppy. It needs to be de-"fandalized". Molotov wasn't "banned" in Mexico, but they couldn't get any radio or TV airplay due to their lyrics. The cover of the first CD was part of the reason they were so stigmatized, so it is relevant. I don't know about the Catholic school lawsuit though. Its news to me. The "misinterpretation" was actually a valid interpretation (the song is called Puto, for heaven's sake), and there was uproar among Spain's gay community (which isn't repressed, like Mexico's, and actually stands up to insults, I might add). I remember reading an article about it on a Spanish website. The last one...what can I say? Sounds more like someone's opinion than anything else. I've got some old Al Borde magazines, so I'll put this article on my list of things to do. In the meantime, feel free to edit out the most egregious stuff. But let´s also remember that in Mexico Homophobic slurs like "puto" or "marica" are also slurs referring to "lack of manhood" i.e. cowardice and cheating. About their first CD Cover....[edit]

Yes it was part of the problem of their CD being banned, they even had to sell their cd's on the street (even tought this was a publicity stunt more than anything). Besides to the high school uniform (implying being underage), the girl in the cover has her panties down to the middle of her legs wich made the censorship problem even bigger.

Biography[edit]

I edited the Bio section, I think the article needs more sources for some sentences... I haven't checked the spanish article, but maybe we can find some there. "With their arms folded?"[edit]

Um, in the line about their first concert in Germany, the statement about the gay and lesbian protestors having their arms crossed comes off as a bit patronizing. I'm going to remove it.

Correction[edit]

In the section about controversy, who ever put this in is totally wrong:

"La Pinche Lupita" (The Fucking Lupita), tells the story of a butch lesbian who used to be the girlfriend of one of the singers. In the lyrics, she is referred as marimacha (dyke); puta ramera (slut whore) ans so on.

Molotov did not record that song, its actually a Mexican rap group Control Machete, and even the song is titled wrong. Its called "la Lupita". "La Lupita" does speak of an ex who became a Lesbian, but again the title is wrong, and the band that performed that song is Control Machete and not Molotov.
