Comment[edit]

I just wanted to say; this really is a great page, makes me all nostalgic... been reading NGC/N64 since round about issue 11 when I must have been seven years old (Ha, no kidding!), and it was like nothing else on the market. Remember Edge and NOM? Both were polar opposites (one arty and pretentious, the other essentially a glamourised promotional leaflet) but side by side in terms of doing journalism WRONG. N64's writers were so down to earth, they weren't afraid of including unobtrusive bias and silly jokes in their reviews and must have been great people in real life too (not that I would know, but you could tell). See, I grew up reading these and now must go through the shoddy pile of old issues one more time. Kudos to the guys responsible.

Yeah, I agree with that. This is as good as an article should be, and it made me feel great! They had balls. For some reason, I remember reading all of Future Publishing's magazines. Great times, the 90s!--Sam-El 17:20, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know where i can read these old, humerous reviews? i.e are there any internet sources?

I loved this magazine too, and just reading a few of the little jokes nearly made me wet myself. I honestly believe that this magazine made me what I am today - a total buffoon with a love of exaggerated language.

I was sorting through all my old magazines recently, throwing out most of them, but I just couldn't throw out my old N64 Magazines. I'm going to keep them forever. Tredanse 06:13, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i have every issus from 20 onwards, still like to read old ones sometimes, they still make me laugh. i loved the honesty. i got two letters printed in it years ago, one about Bernard Cribbins and the other about kitsy's love of Kevin Smith - 62.136.107.50 21:55, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the first guy to the guy above - was your letter the one about the Snorlax called SilentBob? Small world. I wrote a letter in to their So Tell Me This section but it didn't get printed. Maybe the questions weren't good enough, since I only sent them in with the express purpose of getting printed and replied to in the magazine. I can't remember them at all but one was about Kirby Tilt And Tumble.

Neh neh! I have every issue of N64 Magazine ever made, and the video tape that came with issue 1, all the Double Game Guide+'s and game companion books. I love them but actually want to sell them on now, to make space. I actually got THREE letters printed including a Star Letter and won a steering wheel for it, that letter being responsible for them starting to list how many pages on a Memory Pak each game that used them took up, and what the controls for a game are in the infobox in the beginning of a review. They really took on everything that the readers had to say; no magazine I've ever read has had that kind of respect for their readers. It wasn't just an excellent gaming magazine, it was excellent journalism - regardless of field - and made the readers feel like a community. groovygower (talk) 03:36, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All the above, I read almost every issue and the memories of the excellent journalism, jokes and general down to earth tone of the magazine are still with me to this day. I remember literally crying with laughter at some of the reviews. To Groovygower, I know it's almost three years since your post but if you still have your collection and are considering selling it, I would be very interested, my parents threw out my collection after I left home much to my absolute dismay. As to the letter about the snorlax called SilentBob, ever since I saw that letter, every snorlax I use in Pokemon to this day has that nickname :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.219.63.13 (talk) 23:44, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Successor...?[edit]

So the mag has moved on (yet again), but should we include a section for its replacement "Ngamer"? Apparently, most of the staff has moved onto "Ngamer", and it will probably retain the same basic style. Its just like when Superplay became N64. A section, or a new page?--Ninty 18:16, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wait, forget I spoke, there's already a page.--Ninty 19:25, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete[edit]

There's still a lot of info missing...

  • History - what happened over the years with the magazine?
  • Content - There is a lot of detail on reviews and games, but what other regular features did the magazine have? --Nreive 11:29, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for unsigned comments and all, but I added the 'features' section. If it's rubbish or un-Wikipedia-like, feel free to delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.248.161 (talk) 23:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
