I just added http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/rocket3ap.html to external links, but there is a huge wealth of NASA-sourced information at the top of that page from the pull down menu, much of which should be in this article. Also, someone should probably check to see that we have an article at least on all of those ten projects with more than a few google hits on their code name. And, since almost all of the images on that page are public domain (US gov't/NASA) they should probably be uploaded to Commons. Dual Use (talk) 22:03, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Cars: WTF/LPS

The article currently has the following text:

In 2009, Loren Kulesus proposed a design to General Motors for a Cadillac concept car powered by thorium. The thorium powered motor was still under development by Laser Power Systems, a small research and development start-up company in Connecticut, in 2011. Charles Stevens, the company's owner, said that he had been in discussions with French authorities and kit car makers about entering a thorium-powered car in the LeMans 24 hour race. Actual use in production cars is considered to be years away.

There are several problems. First, Kulesus created concept art (Note FOX ref: "in tribute to Caddy’s 100th anniversary as part of General Motors"), rather than going through the engineering design process as is implied. Second, (again, note FOX ref), Laser Power Systems is independent from that art. Third, while LPS was reported on, it strikes me as almost certainly voodoo science as much as the Orbo or E-Cat; lasers do not initiate fission and if there's no fission, where does the energy come from? I can't seem to find anything new having been reported on them since. Based on Wikipedia:Fringe theories, I don't think it belongs in this article. -- Limulus (talk) 19:31, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Parking the extract here seems appropriate as nothing further has been stated about Lsser Power Systems and the whole concept seems improbable. NealeFamily (talk) 20:46, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
