Wrong stadium[edit]

The article says that the Molde-PSG match of 1995 was played at Molde stadion. That is wrong - the Molde stadion hadn't enough light and the match was played at Ullevaal. Molde stadion (today Aker stadion) was finished in 1998. It's also visible in video from the match, i.e. in this video: [1] Jontoenn (talk) 16:39, 9 March 2019 (UTC) jontoenn 08:30, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

so how come the infobox shows 24 goals but the table below only talks about 23 of them? Chensiyuan 08:30, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

Lots of weasel words and unnecessary narrative that needs to be either removed or cited all over this article. Here's just an example from one section:

United fans were eternally grateful, as the slightly-built Norwegian went on to score the winning goal in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, helping the team secure the astonishing Treble and cementing his own place in the United folklore. These feats, as well as his likeable demeanour, made him a firm favourite among the United supporters, inspiring songs such as "Who Put the Ball in the Germans' Net?" and "You Are My Solskjær". Although he had been absent on the pitch for a long time due to injury, United fans still fill matches with chants sung in Solskjær's honour.

A few are quite true though, to be fair. I am of course not exactly the most objective of people on this matter... Life is great...if you support Manchester United 17:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea how to get rid of the red highlighter? Life is great...if you support Manchester United 17:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. KINKKUANANAS 09:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC) 09:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, there are too many superlatives in the text. At one point it says that "After a further injury sustained in Copenhagen, Solskjær again returned on top form scoring the third goal in the 3-1 win over Wigan on Boxing Day. Solskjær continued his magnificent form by scoring United's opening goal in their 3-2 win over Reading on the 30th of December. He can't be in magnificent form if he's only played 2 matches! 86.135.209.39 (talk) 20:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eric Cantona[edit]

I don't know enough to write about it myself, but I believe there should be some words about how Eric Cantona and Solskjær played together. Marstr2 (talk) 19:19, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Was there something special about the way those two played together? – PeeJay 21:26, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article issues[edit]

I downgraded the article from B-class to C-class. Considering the general absence of references for large portions of the article that's the best it can have. The article is also very weak on solskjær's early life, before his sporting career started. __meco (talk) 17:26, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Years at Molde in infobox[edit]

I recently changed Solskjær's time at Molde in the infobox from 1994-1996 to 1995-1996, as he wasn't a part of Molde's squad in 1994. This was reverted because "he was bought by Molde in 1994". Yes, he was bought by Molde in 1994 to start play for Molde from the 1995-season and onwards, but I don't think that the infobox should show that Solskjær played for Molde in 1994, so I'm changing it back. Mentoz86 (talk) 07:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox years always reflect the dates when transfers were made. If the transfer was made in 1994, which it was, then 1994 is the start year of his time at Molde. – PeeJay 11:54, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Solskjær second transfer was made in 2010, so using that logic you should change his managerial years aswell. The difference is that this time we have sources that states that he didn't start the job as manager before January 2011, but it's the same when he joined Molde as a player (though we lack sources): he didn't join Molde's squad before the 1995 pre-season, which starts in January. These issues are very straigthforward when you have a fall-spring season, but in cases with a spring-fall season you are making the infobox look like Solskjær was a part of Molde's squad in the 1994-season, which he wasn't. Mentoz86 (talk) 12:06, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
His managerial contract with Molde started in January 2011. Although we don't have evidence for it, it can be safely assumed that his playing contract with Molde started when the transfer was made in 1994. The years in the infobox reflect contract dates. – PeeJay 12:10, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if anything can be safely assumed, it is that his playing contract with Molde didn't start before 1 January 1995, as that is normal procedure in Norway. The fact that he was bought in 1994 (after the season) is sourced, but we have no indication whatsoever that he joined the club or that his contract started before 1 Janary 1995 which would be uncommon practice in Norway (pre-season starts in January). I even found contradicting sources: these two sources states that "Åge Hareide brought Solskjær to Molde from Clausenengen in 1995" ([1] [2]), so I guess I should just leave it like it is.
The reason that this annoys me, is because I for a long time was certain that Solskjær played for Molde in the First Division in 1994 (because that was what the wiki-article said). I got the impression that he left Clausenengen mid-season 1994 (since the infobox states that he was at both Clausenengen and Molde in 1994) and the prose didn't do anything to correct the misunderstanding either.Mentoz86 (talk) 12:47, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the year to 1995, as supported by this source (scroll to page 25), in Norwegian. The link is an archived scan of the Kristiansund local paper Tidens Krav, and for those who can't read Norwegian, it states that the clubs finally agreed a transfer sum on 14 February 1995. Solskjær had agreed terms in December, but the official transfer was not complete until 1995.Cashewnøtt (talk) 06:16, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 19 January 2021[edit]

Under "Managerial Career" it would be nice to add that on 12 January 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Manchester United have gone top the Premier League after New Year's Day for the first time since they last won the title in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson's last season at the club." Stramanor (talk) 23:27, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done You need to provide WP:RS, but even so, I don't see how this is really important, especially since Man City is 1st right now. More could be written when the season's over.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:33, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Europa League Final criticism[edit]

I don’t know why my edit of him being criticised in the final for making a change in the 100th minute was removed yet a part of the Manchester United fanbase wanted him gone for it. Serrwinner (talk) 08:20, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
