Boundaries[edit]

In the 2013 census, an area unit called Oratia covered an area south of West Coast Road between Shaw Road and Sunview Road. In 2018, substantially the same area was called Glen Eden West. The northern part of area called Oratia in the 2018 census was called Otimai in the 2013 census, and the southern part was included in Karekare area unit. In 2013, there was also an area unit called Oratia West which is now part of the 2018 Waitarua statistical area. I can see no evidence that the area called Glen Eden West in 2018 is actually part of Oratia, and so I have moved the demographics for that area to Glen Eden, New Zealand, and restricted the demographics of Oratia to the 2018 Oratia statistical area. If I'm mistaken, please explain to me how the statistical areas match up to the suburb. The statistical areas can be seen at https://statsnz.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=6f49867abe464f86ac7526552fe19787 under Statistical Area->Statistical Area 2 - 2018 (and the smaller areas under Statistical Area 1 - 2018) may also be useful. The 2013 area units can be seen under Other Geographies->Area Unit.-gadfium 05:01, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a kind of wild decision by Stats NZ - a large part of Oratia (i.e. the 19th century village where the settlers hall is) is in the Waiatarua census block. --Prosperosity (talk) 21:51, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
