Notable alumni

Congrats to Dunbar cheerleaders for winning 4 national championships!! GO BULLDOGS!! With the success PLD has had in so many sports, and the MSTC, there have got to be more notable alums than just Mills and Burton! Cmadler 22:12, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I highly suspect that most, if not all of the additions to the academics section of notable alumni are vandalism. When put into a Google search they return this article as the first result and irrelevant results afterwards. Also, most of the edits are being made by an unnamed IP address, which added most of them on April 1st. I will remove the names until someone comes up with real notable alumni for PLD, of which I'm sure there are some.(Lithoderm (talk) 22:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC))

Dunbar schools

My neighbor grew up in Lexington, Ky and she told me that there was more than one Dunbar school in Kentucky and perhaps other states. Does the author have info about them.--Dakota ~ ° 05:41, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

I know there are other schools called "Dunbar" around the country (this article makes reference to that fact in mentioning demographics), though I couldn't say specificaly where (I believe there is one in Chicago, there is probably one in Dunbar's home town of Dayton, OH) or what the full names of those schools are. I am not aware of any other schools called "Dunbar" in Kentucky - I am reasonably confident this is the only high school by that name in Kentucky, but I have no idea about middle and elementary schools. Another point is "Dunbar" v. "Paul Dunbar" v. "Paul Laurence Dunbar." The proper name of this school is "Paul Laurence Dunbar High School", while Lexington's all-black school was "Dunbar High School." In practice, however, this school is referred to as "Paul Laurence Dunbar", "PLD", and "Dunbar." The only reference I have found to this school as "Paul Dunbar" is on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) website. I hope this answers your question. Roster listing

I removed several sections of the Baseball section. This material may be appropriate in an article about PLD Baseball, but not in the main article about the school. PLD has taken many state championships in many areas(3 for soccer, 4 for marching band, many for the academic team) and even national championships (6 by the cheerleading squad), and listing the rosters for all of the championship teams would bloat this article beyond reason. Academic Team

The Dunbar academic team had a number of state and national successes in the late 90's-early 2000's. Seems like a section on non-athletic extramural activites including the academic team and other organizations e.g. speech, beta club, youth in government, and their successes would be appropriate? • The notes about the academic team's performance at the state championship do not seem notable considering the team has won Beta Nationals and placed second in NAQT in the past.
• Johnny Xu was not picked in an NBA draft.
• Elliot's first name is Kermin, not Vermin.
• Papa Chakravarthy won Jeopardy; not Amit Chakraborty, another PLD student.
• Henry Ho did not win 6 Nobel prizes.
• Eric Lin and Bob Sun did not, to my knowledge, participate in Jeopardy (someone please correct me on this one if I am wrong.)
• I added back Bret Donaldson
