Paper from sustainable sources ?[edit]

as of March 2010 there appears to be no information on the type of paper used to manufacture physical Wikibooks. FSC promotes sustainable wood production. 79.75.31.167 (talk) 16:28, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

pedia press as an "official partner"[edit]

how exactly did the wfm get "official partners" that sell wfm-content as a commercial service, & pay the wmf for doing so?

where was the community discussion about this?

& how is this article NOT ADVERTISING for pedia press & their wfm-p.o.d. service?

o__0

this situation troubles me, greatly, as it seems to be a pretty clear violation of the "no advertising" principle.

Update in past tense[edit]

Now that the (in this user's opinion, excellent) PediaPress book facility has come to an end, the article needs some past-tensing. Qexigator (talk) 06:53, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw something for sale by PediaPress , or at least , it was listed in books.google.com as being a publication of PediaPress (which I realize is not the same thing). Was surprised they were a bluelink, so checked out the article. There was a keep (per WP:IAR primarily) back in 2009. Website was still live, and the site-cart seems to be functional, I added a print-book and started the checkout process as a test. Ping User:Qexigator, are you sure the PediaPress is gone? See https://pediapress.com/about/ , it is the same company as the article is about, not a re-launch. I guess the more pertinent question is, would the bangkeep of 2009, be repeated in 2015, now that WP:IAR often seems to be old-fashioned? Anons cannot nominate for a (second) attempt at deletion, so I guess the question will have to wait until someone decides WP:42 is not necessarily satisfied by this print-on-demand business. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 00:01, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The PediaPress bookmaking facility resumed some time after my comment, hence my edit [1]. It seems there was a temporary suspension, unexplained. Qexigator (talk) 07:57, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Complaint about PediaPress service[edit]

At ticket:2017062010023449 a user writes in complaining about an order not received from PediaPress. They are complaining to WP:OTRS because they read at wmf:Press releases/Wikis Go Printable that the "The company is located in Mainz, Germany and has entered a long term partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation". @JayWalsh: is named as managing this relationship. Jay, what do you know about this? Where are PediaPress comments logged when they come to wiki volunteers? Thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 19:52, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

wmf:User:JayWalsh left the Wikimedia Foundation according to a 2013 blog post. I suspect that this relationship ended in 2009 or sooner and that this documentation is a loose end to be closed. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:53, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I thought this service was nonfunctional. Here are some talks about the way it is functional and some various calls to keep it as is, or develop it, or close it.

This is rather off topic for this talk page, which concerns the Wikipedia article about Pediapress. This should go elsewhere, like at Wikipedia talk:Books or similar. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 22:01, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
