Pinedale is not an unincorporated community, it was annexed by the City of Fresno and is now within the municipal boundaries of the city. It IS, however, a recognized section of the city and this stub could be added into the "neighborhoods" section of the article about the city of Fresno. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.238.19.98 (talk) 01:58, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree with the above suggestion, even to the degree that the OTHER Pinedale article's content be merged with this one, and they ALL be merged into the "neighborhoods" section of the Fresno article. If someone can come up with some more history on Pinedale, then I'd say keep a separate article. Otherwise, let's cut the cruft and incorporate this into the parent article, as has been done with Pinedale itself. Edit Centric (talk) 18:40, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Although I think the two Pinedale articles should be merged (see my separate comment in section below), I strongly believe the combined Pinedale article should be kept separate from the Fresno article. I was born in Fresno and have lived here my entire 32 years. Using basic city maps, I memorized all the major streets, neighborhoods, etc., in Fresno by the age of 6 (I have always been a "map freak"). I moved to a neighborhood adjacent to Pinedale a few years ago, and have been very interested in learning more about it ever since. I searched Wikipedia specifically for Pinedale, and not Fresno, expecting to find an article specifically for Pinedale. Unlike every other "neighborhood" and "unincorporated community" currently listed in the Fresno article, "Pinedale" is recognized by the U.S. Postal Service as an "acceptable city name" to use in a mailing address (go to http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.jsp and enter "93650"). Although the "actual city name" in the 93650 ZIP Code is "Fresno," the ZIP Code was created specifically for Pinedale (which is why this is the only ZIP Code listed for Fresno that is not unique to a particular organization - such as the IRS - that does not begin with "937"). Although the annexation of Pinedale is clearly a part of Fresno's history, Pinedale's origin and history prior to that time is completely separate from Fresno's - and in many ways its story continues to be separate from Fresno's. Even if you have never been to Fresno before and never heard of Pinedale before, if you drive along Blackstone Avenue (the most "major" north-south street in Fresno), and then turn into Pinedale (by turning on Pinedale, Minarets, Birch, Spruce, or Locust Avenue), you will immediately know you entered a place (of some sort) distinct from where you were just a moment ago. --Jdaloner (talk) 17:41, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jdaloner is correct. Unless you have lived here in Fresno for an extended period, you would not really understand the unique circumstances around Pinedale. Yes, it was annexed by the city, but other than how that effected city services being available in the area, it had no effect on the unique identity of the area. Merge the two Pinedale articles, absolutely, but the merged article should remain, and not be merged into a neighborhood section in Fresno. However, it is listed as an unincorporated area currently in the Fresno article, which is also incorrect. wxwalsh 10:50, 14 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wxwalsh (talkcontribs)

Proposed Merger with other Pinedale article[edit]

I'm proposing that, since we're talking about the same place in both articles, that the article at Pinedale (former town), California be merged with this one. Again, both are referring to the same geographical location. Edit Centric (talk) 09:35, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I also agree, the community of Pinedale California was annexed into the City of Fresno beginning in 1978 and within a year had fully annexed. Their are corresponding news articles and court documents that show a timeline of the annexation of this area. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mactezuma (talkcontribs) 23:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also inclined to agree. There doesn't seem to be enough here to justify a separate article. Sχeptomaniacχαιρετε 16:59, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I find this to be agreeable. Pinedale, CA's article should be included in the Fresno, CA article in the neighborhood section.

Pinedale should be it's own place. Come on, there's even a Pinedale post office.

I agree, the two Pinedale articles should be combined. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bryan868 (talkcontribs) 03:22, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The two Pinedale articles should absolutely be merged. They are referring to the exact same place and neither one provides information which is in any way separate or distinct from the information in the other. However, I strongly believe the combined Pinedale article should be kept separate from the Fresno article, and I will comment separately in that section. --Jdaloner (talk) 17:05, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Noting that some of the above comments in this section are addressing the Pinedale to Fresno merger, instead of the merger of the two Pinedale articles. That said, I support the merger of the two Pinedale articles, they refer to the same location and there is really no reason to have that information spread out among two articles. -- wxwalsh 10:45, 14 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wxwalsh (talkcontribs)
