Team Name[edit]

The article states that the team is named after The Crawford Grill. Is this so? The article for the Crawford Grill jumps back and forth chronologically, but it may be that the team name predated the name of the Grill. There is a photo on the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh (not a sporting expert) website purporting to be a photo of the 1926 Crawfords, and the uniforms are clearly marked "Crawfords"

I don't have everything in front of me to make corrections, but I believe that the origin of the Crawfords name is that they originally represented the Crawford (neighborhood) Recreation Center in amateur leagues in Pittsburgh. The book "Sandlot Seasons," by Rob Ruck is a good source for the early history of the Crawfords. Arnold Rothstein1921 (talk) 16:24, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the information in the introduction about the team name and added a Sources section to reflect the Ruck blog post. Also created a section about the revival of the team in the 1945-46 United States League. One issue would be whether the 1945-46 team is actually the same team as the one of the 1930s. Formed in 1931?[edit]

The infobox seems to suggest that the Crawfords were formed in 1931, but I see references to the Crawford Colored Giants having been around since at least as early as 1929. When were the Colored Giants formed? Shouldn't that be in the infobox? Uchiha Itachi 25 (talk) 12:41, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the Crawford Colored Giants were a separate semi-pro team. The team Greenlee took control of in 1926 seems to have also been a semi-pro team that he took to a professional level in 1931, where this article credits as its beginning.
