Essay on 'Avoiding unhealthy teacher-pupils relationships'[edit]

Why was my reference to this article of Piya Tan's removed and without even the courtesy of discussion?

It's an important and significant article and removing the reference to it the very opposite of the point of view taken by the article - that these issues must be confronted by the Buddhist community.

I have reinstated the reference. If you wish to remove it please allow debate about in the discussion page first. If it's merely a question of copyright (but the link does come from Piya Tan's dharma organisation who have presumably made it available in the public domain by putting it up on the web in the first palce) then replace the in-line link with a citation.

I'm extremely annoyed about this. It was extremely discourteous to act in such a high-handed and that if you please over an issue which so important and sensitive and so skilfully treated by Piya Tan. Rinpoche (talk) 02:35, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned in my edit summary earlier, the section concerned is meant to highlight a collection of his published books in print, and not from sources such as one's homepages, blogs or community based forums etc. See WP:Verifiability, WP:NOR & WP:Notability. If you add citations anywhere in Wikipedia, do use the proper citation tags as per WP:Citation templates. If you are not fully sure of how things work here, kindly check out & understand our rules well first, observe & learn the best practices on other similar articles, especially those which were rated 'Good Articles' or better. Lastly, as someone who called himself a Rinpoche, do mind your words & actions should you want to contribute here in the long term. With metta. -- Kulikah (talk) 16:37, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well thank you indeed. One is so very obliged. But the essay concerned is not from a blog or a forum but from his own dharma site and the Wikipedia is not your personal property but a collaborative effort. Of course the essay is 'published'. To humour you I shall add a section "Web essays". As one who by implication knows how things work here you will know to avoid personal comments on these talk pages. On this occasion I will indulge myself (I trust not demean myself) by observing I merely call myself "Rinpoche" and do not claim to be a "a Rinpoche" (and why do you imagine by the way that I am a 'he'?). Take care. Rinpoche (talk) 23:14, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"If you add citations anywhere in Wikipedia, do use the proper citation tags as per WP:Citation templates" (so you opine above). But WP:Citation templates's second sentence is "The use of citation templates is neither encouraged nor discouraged" and anyway I use them all the time. Take more care (and I would like to have an apology).Rinpoche (talk) 00:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Plus not to mention you could have merely edited my contribution to your exacting standard (adding a polite note in the discussion to explain what had done and why you had done so). Or don't you think Piya Tan's essays worth noticing? Take loads more care (aka be loads more mindful as hoping this helps and BTW is that flames coming out of your head the pic your talk page?) Rinpoche (talk) 00:34, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've done my fair share of edits and content creation, as well as doing policies and technical reviews since the early pioneering years here. Due to personal commitments, I'm helping out more in a supervisory role now - I'll let the eager ones to mop around cleaning up the mess later. We had a good laugh after reading your "Stuff & Lods more stuff" added responses and Vedana-like conjunctures here. If one think that adding content or edits in Wikipedia, according to one's 'favourite views or inspiration' will do great service to the article/person(s)/organisation(s) concerned in the long run - They are most encouraged to do so (regardless of one's gender). Do sit back, grab a cuppa and reflect as a whole constructively, instead of harping on, or reinventing inconsequential "stuff" - One should focus on the moon, instead of looking at the finger pointing at the moon. Lastly, to the uninitiated, it's seen as 'fire', but to the wise, it's called Samadhi. To those watching these talkpages quietly here, I believe they may know whose house is on fire. Take great care too. -- Kulikah (talk) 05:13, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
