35k population and 200k votes![edit]

Its seems from the election data roughly that 199 000 people voted in Liechtenstein's last elections. According to wikipedia, Liechtenstein's population is only roughly 35 000 people. There has to be something very wrong! I checked the voting reference and it seems right. I also checked the population data from CIA world fact book and its is also correct. Expansion question[edit]

Why hasn't Liechtenstein joined the EU? -- Beland 5 July 2005 07:28 (UTC)

Most probably down to having a tax favoured status like many smaller states including with foreign investment (Compare British Crown Dependancies such as Isle of Man, Gibralter etc. not to forget Switzerland!

Important notice[edit]

The government section of the "Outline of Liechtenstein" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.

When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.

Please check that this country's outline is not in error.

referendum and financial clout of Prince[edit]

Here it says there'll be a referendum on the Prince's veto, and also that he (like his predecessor) has threatened to move abroad if his power is reduced. Bearing in mind the royal family's bank employs 1500 people, he is quite clearly using his financial clout to blackmail the electorate. At least according to the BBC. This should go in.
