I've added some sourced details and corrected some dates. The "middle" name "Montpitie de Brie" (or "Montpitie de Brion") did not raise a single Google hit. I think the word "Montpitie" is a mistake for the obscure chateau of Simon de Brion's birth. --Wetman 22:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Martino di Tours, movitv che ha indotto qualche scrittore a crederio Turonense di patria: era Uditore di Ruota, come scrive il Bernini (a cui i nomi di Cappellano Pontificio, e di Uditore di Ruota sono analoghi: se poi sempre si apponga al vera, lascieremo, che altri ne giudichi), allorquando eletto al Vescovado del Puy, non seppe determinarsi ad accettare quella mitra. On Simon de Brie and the Council of Bourges in September, 1276 (canons promulgated on September 13), see Carl Joseph von Hefele, Conciliengeschichte nach dem Quellen bearbeitet second edition Volume VI (Freiburg im Breisgau: Herder 1890) 176-177. The date is important, as it shows that Simon could not have participated in the Conclave of August-September, 1276, which concluded on September 8 with the election of Peter Julian (Giampietro Giuliani, or di Giuliano),of Lisbon (John XXI). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vicedomino (talk • contribs) 20:30, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, there is no source which would indicates that Simon was present at the election of John XXI. Concerning the data about his origins, I don't know whether they are correct or not, bu generally I'd advice the great caution by using Lorenzo Cardella - his work contains several serious errors CarlosPn (talk) 10:36, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

martin IV birthplace[edit]

Hello

There is an error in the birthplace. He was born in a fortified farm (still existing) called Mainpincien near the village of Andrezel in Brie. he was also called Simon de Brie. See the french article on Wikipedia.
