- Support this alternative, with a redirect from Car racing helmet to help those of us not from the USA. Agree with suggestion below that a DAB or a BCA should be created at Racing helmet, and according to that guideline the BCA is preferred but for now a DAB would be better than just a redirect. Oppose per WP:OVERPRECISION. There's no article on WP about any other kind of racing helmet and if other types of racing helmets exist and there's anything to say about them, they can be added to this article. If there's a lot to say about any of them that differs from the topic of this article, a new article can be created and this article can then be moved at that time. While there might not currently be any other articles about racing helmets in WP, I still think that the current article name is misleading and does not correspond to its content. I have landed here several times the last year, and it has confused me each time, still after reading and understanding that the article is talking about car racing helmets only. Racing helmet is a very broad title, and would be more suitable to use as a disambiguation page linking to the various racing sports where sport-specific helmets are used, for example to specific article sections of with such equipment descriptions. By looking at the racing article, there are many pictures of different sports using very sport-specific helmet designs, which are as different as helmet designs in general. Currently this article deals exclusively with racing helmets for auto racing, except for some minor comparisons to racing helmets for motorcycles. To me it makes sense to move this article to Auto racing helmet as suggested above. Racing helmet could then become a disambiguation page something like:

A racing helmet can be any helmet used for racing. They can either be sport-specific or eligble to be used across multiple sports, and must often be approved for use by a sport governing body.
Racing helmet can refer to:

Auto racing helmet, a helmet used in car racing
Karting helmet, a helmet approved for use in kart racing

Boat racing helmets, often used in modern boat racing together with a head and neck support (HANS) device

Bicycle helmet
Aero helmet, used in time trials in cycling sport

Horse racing helmet

Motorcycle racing helmet, a motorcycle helmet used for racing

Short-track speed skating helmet, used in competitive ice speed skating

Currently this article deals exclusively with racing helmets for auto racing, except for some minor comparisons to racing helmets for motorcycles. Therefore it is not a waste of time moving it! It is a rather a waste of time to ask others to rewrite it. However, if you or someone else want to rewrite it into a broader concept article that would also be fine. Relister comment: This discussion seems split between two schools of thought. Either (1) the article should retain its current scope, and be retitled accordingly, or (2) the article should retain its current title, but broaden its scope to include other racing helmets as well.
