Is Strauss Jewish?

Yes--he has said so himself on many occasions, referring to himself as a "Jewish boy from Texas."

copyvio[edit]

The article had a major copyvio from [1], so I've reverted back to the version before that material was added. -Will Beback 20:21, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Total Expansion[edit]

I completely expanded and referenced the article, so I removed the unreferenced tag and the texas political figure stub tag. Sag1738 22:04, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strauss's parentage[edit]

Strauss was not the son of Jewish immigrants. His father, Karl Hannah Strauss immigrated from Nuremberg, Germany, however his mother, Edith Violet Schwarz, was born in Hempstead Texas on 11 May 1888 to a prominent Jewish family. She was the second of four children all born in Texas. Her brother Edwin was the first pediatrician of Houston. The mother of Edith Violet Schwarz, Selma Weinbaum Schwarz immigrated to Texas in 1884 when she married into the Schwarz family, then living in Hempstead Texas. == Texas, U.S., Naturalization Records, 1852-1991 == Immigration & Emigration and also cf her death certificate Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903-1982 and Biography of Robert S.
