Company name has changed[edit]

The headline of the page should be changed to STX Finland Oy as STX Finland Cruise Oy is no longer the company name. How can this be done? Stxterhi (talk) 06:43, 3 July 2012 (UTC)Terhi from STX Finland Oy[reply]

"STX Finland Oy" is official name for this companyt - see [1] --Aulis Eskola (talk) 21:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delivered Craft[edit]

I removed from the list such ships which have got nothing to do with STX. They were built during the previous owners and even in another yard which was closed before STX was even created. For example MS Rosella was built in the old Wärtsilä Turku yard.

The vessels built in the two Wärtsilä Turku yards since 1930's until bancrupcy of Wärtsilä Marine are listed here (in Finnish). --Gwafton (talk) 23:15, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs major overhaul[edit]

IMHO this article needs major overhaul as Meyer has taken over the Turku shipyard and since then has received a number of new orders. Perhaps the history of STX Finland (or STX in Finland) should be split to a separate article and this article should be about Meyer Turku? Tupsumato (talk) 08:52, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Also Masa-Yards and Finnyards should be split off from this article. --Gwafton (talk) 16:07, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
True. Basically, all shipbuilding companies should have their own articles (with proper company infoboxes) while the physical shipyards could be covered in separate articles, complete with "list of ships built at (location)" either as a separate page or included if the list is short enough (as with Vuosaari shipyard). One of my long-term projects is to compile this kind of list of all major shipyards, complete with name histories, IMO numbers etc. Tupsumato (talk) 05:16, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Typically the change in ownership doesn't cause any impact on shipbuilding operations (apart from certain cases, such as the bancrupcy of Wärtsilä Marine). Shipbuilding projects are continued as planned while the plaques at the gates change. In principle, shipbuilding companies should have separate articles from the yards, at least if the yard ownership has changed often in a short time while the yard itself has remained more or less the same, or the same shipbuilder has operated many yards. I would regard this as a good general guideline.
I have made a similar list in the Finnish Wikipedia. I have also drafted another list for the Perno built ships starting from Masa-Yards era, but haven't had the inspiration to complete it. --Gwafton (talk) 12:59, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

missing word?[edit]

" In August 2014, the Turku shipyard was sold to Meyer Werft the state-owned Finnish Industry Investment and renamed Meyer Turku Oy." Meyer is certainly not state-owned by Finland so there is some words missing here. 84.215.194.129 (talk) 20:18, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"...Meyer Werft and the state-owned...". However, the text is just as unclear as the final years of STX Finland and could use some copyediting... Tupsumato (talk) 20:27, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
