Untitled[edit]

I could not find any original sources on the web about the time needed to take control of the plane. In the absence of any evidence for the 90 seconds claim made in revision 226746894 I've reverted it to the original 10 minutes. 91.105.146.134 (talk) 10:25, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

I am going to expand this article. The current version notes very little of the actual hijackng. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jkrefft (talkcontribs) 21:01, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Netanyahu?[edit]

Was Benjamin Netanyahu there? It's been extensively documented that Ehud Barak led the mission and I have read that at one point Barak was Netanyahu's commander but a quick Google search didn't find any source stating that Netanyahu was part of Operation Isotope. Does anyone have a solid source on this? Nsfreeman (talk) 13:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Netanyahu was there, and he was injured in the rescue. (See a video on YouTube where he appears with his arm in a sling to accept the congratulations of the government). My mother-in-law was on that flight, and she signaled to Netanyahu which of the females was one of the hijackers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.231.166.217 (talk) 21:53, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SN571[edit]

The flight was SN571 to TLV and not SN572 from TLV. Ori (talk) 18:16, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number of fatalities[edit]

The statistics box currently says zero dead, but the article says two hijackers were killed and one passenger died later from wounds. Should the box not say 3 dead? Am reluctant to change this myself, in case there's some sort of rule whereby we don't count hijackers or those who don't die on or near the aircraft. Article issues[edit]

Remarkably, considering the facts, this article contains far less information than most plane-incident articles.

Perhaps as a result, it isn't proken into sections such as Flight (scheduled, etc.), background, hijacking, resolution, and aftermath. Instead, it looks like fifteen people came by, each added a sentence, and then left. In addition, there are some remarkably trivial facts here (such as the pilot's British war decoration from decades earlier), and things appear to run out of steam. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 15:50, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Israeli passenger who was killed in the fire exchange was Merry Holtzberg Andersen from Kibbutz Lohamei Ha'Getaot, who was the daughter of holocaust survivors. FigTenne (talk) 20:42, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:53, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add the following: The passenger who sustained fatal wounds was Marie Holzberg Anderson, the daughter of holocaust survivors. To be added after this sentence: Three passengers were wounded in the exchange of fire, one of whom later died of her injuries.  Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. I don't believe there is a need to include the name of a non-notable victim in the article. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:57, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's important to name the sole casualty of this terrorist attack. While Marie Holzberg Anderson is not a 'notable person', she is a victim and knowing more about her background as a second generation holocaust survivor gives more context to this incident. There needs to be more representation of women victims of war and terrorism and, given we know the identity and background of this one, it is an opportunity to do so. I think that would be interesting info for the article, and support its addition. Another notable tidbit is that Halsa died in 2020 of cancer --> https://english.aawsat.com//home/article/2205516/palestinians-mourn-theresa-halsa-hijacker-1972-flight-tel-aviv 50.111.46.61 (talk) 16:18, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in media section[edit]

"From Night Flak to Hijack: It's aa Small World, autobiography by Captain Reginald Levy DFC." should be "It's a Small..." 96.240.128.124 (talk) 19:02, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
