Proposed merge of Emma E. Booker Elementary School into Sarasota County Public Schools[edit]

As per the PROD discussion; there is consensus to merge this article to the school district, or alternatively to create an article on Emma E. Booker herself. -- Rockstone^{Send me a message!} 07:59, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge per my reasoning at the AfD. The article to be merged passes WP:GNG, I don't think merging the article would benefit our readers. The AfD was a fairly solid "keep" in my opinion, I'm not seeing a consensus to merge at all. NemesisAT (talk) 09:37, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose The AfD provided sufficient evidence that there is WP:GNG for this article to stand on its own. The closing admin noted that the merge could happen. I am pinging Star Mississippi because I think the closing comments seem to be ambiguous and definitely do not want to see this go through WP:DRV – The Grid (talk) 14:54, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge. There was sufficient coverage presented in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Emma E. Booker Elementary School to establish notability per Wikipedia:Notabilty#General notability guideline. A merge of Emma E. Booker Elementary School into Sarasota County Public Schools would result in either undue weight (if the merge contained everything in the school article) or a lot of sourced, encyclopedic information being lost (if the merge did not use a lot of the content in the school article) which does not benefit readers. Oppose: this school has so much unique notability because of Bush being there during 9/11. With that said, public elementary schools generally aren’t notable enough in their own right to inherently have a Wikipedia page. This article only exists because of Bush, and it should stay that way. Hence, I will add a sentence in the lead section explaining that.
