Improve this article[edit]

I'm going to start working on improving this article to be more concise with the history of Seneca Rocks, would be great if others pitched in helped as well! I created a To-Do box above, add things there if you think they need addressed as well! Raeky (talk) 03:38, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Successfully acquired a picture of the rocks from 1975 before the fall of the Gendarme. Tom Parsons from Ohio on Flickr was very gracious by uploading his picture for the article. Raeky (talk) 21:10, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Cliffs of Seneca"[edit]

The term "Cliffs of Seneca" likely hasn't been used in 100 years. I propose the first sentence shouldn't be "formerly known as Cliffs of Seneca." I presume this comes from the title of the drawing from the 1800's calling it "Cliffs of Seneca." The drawing is great historical info for the article, but because it was called that 100 years ago doesn't justify it being in the first sentence of the article. If anyone objects I'll eventually make this change in a few days (if anyone is even watching this page, lol.) Raeky (talk) 13:46, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd agree to remove the "Cliffs of Seneca" alternate name as well. I've always seen it referred to as "Seneca Rocks." For what it is worth, GNIS lists "Seneca Rocks" as being set as the official name for the cliff in 1967.^[1] It doesn't even list "Cliffs of Seneca" as a known alternate name.
