Um, how bout a rewrite[edit]

This is all highly debatable between the different denominations of Christianity. Could somebody with authoritative knowledge rewrite this? JuliusNero (talk) 01:02, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If someone has a good knowledge of this topic, then of course it would be helpful if they edited the article. Boleyn (talk) 11:06, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is COMPLETELY contrary to Catholic doctrine, as well as many other mainstream Christian denominations. This article should be removed from Wikipedia until better references can be cited than one book by a very opiniated and controversial author. Catholics maintain that Mary married only once in her life, had no children other than Jesus and that Jesus had no siblings. The article makes a definitive, factual statement that Mary was the mother of Simon and that she married Clopas. As a Catholic, I find this to be extremely offensive and irresponsible scholarship. If you find it offensive, then edit it! It's one of the joys and pitfalls of Wikipedia that we are all free to do so. You'd need to add references of course, because there are many opinions on this. Boleyn (talk) 20:39, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted again the removal by an anon IP user of referenced material, which gave no reasons. I am not arguing that this article doesn't need improving, and if there is an alternative viewpoint it should also be represented in the article, but just deleting info because it doesn't fit your religious beliefs isn't acceptable. I have edited the article to ensure that it is not written as definitive fact. Boleyn (talk) 14:33, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
