Requested move 15 July 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved. While the King Kong article is a significant topic (perhaps the most significant), there is consensus that it does not qualify for WP:PTOPIC. (non-admin closure) {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 19:26, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– Refers to a significant number of real places, also I WP:BOLDly changed Skull Island to Skull Island (King Kong). MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE IS REAL EMO!(talk or whatever) 18:45, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as proposed. ~ Pbritti (talk) 20:18, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:31, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the King King one has 10,473 views but the TV series has 63,862, Skull Island: Reign of Kong has 2,835, the Washington one has 107, the Australian one has 52, the Braindead one has 12 and the Monkey Island one also has 12. There are also other islands with this name which may be notable. By long-term significance the real ones may have more. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:50, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The fictional island has more significance than... the TV series named after the fictional island. It would be recentism for the series to somehow overshadow the original. The actual "Skull Islands" have almost no pageviews - simply being a real place does not make something immediately primary. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 19:35, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aren't these two points contradictory? Pageviews, similarly, do not make something primary. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE IS REAL EMO!(talk or whatever) 13:33, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note I modified the request in order to include the King Kong page, as there was no consensus to move it prior to the discussion and it hinges entirely on whether this discussion succeeds or fails. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 04:49, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you, Zxcvbnm, you're absolutely right. ~ Pbritti (talk) 00:55, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination, Pbritti, Laterthanyouthink and Crouch, Swale. There are 13 entries listed upon the Skull Island (disambiguation) page, with no indication that the renown of the fictional island is imbedded in pop culture to such a degree that it dwarfs the combined notability of the remaining 12 entries. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 06:01, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. No primary topic here. BD2412 T 01:07, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
