Content removal[edit]

I readded information you took out of this article in this edit without explanation. As it is apparent that this is not vandalism, though it may exhibit other problems, please give a reason why it should be removed on its talk page.--Jorfer 22:37, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's unsourced, its wording can be considered a personal attack, since it calls him an illiterate, also, if you find a source for his firing, it has to also state the part about him being an illiterate or that part won't be allowed (though anything else the source states will be). For now, since this can be considered a rumor, and since his firing/credentials/ability to read is not common knowledge then it can get us into trouble... libel and such... also... you fixed this by putting it into its own category, but it was also placed randomly within the article. Still, it needs a credible source, otherwise it's just a rumor and we can get sued... so, um, maybe if you find something by like a news outlet, or a press release from the school, anything that can back it up other than just word of mouth then it can remain. I have nothing against it, I'm just following the rules here. Did you add it, btw, i thought it was an anon? -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 22:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is fair enough. I just wanted you to give a good reason because the person that added it at least deserves that and if it is discussed on the talk page then people will be aware of it and it could be discussed as it is a significant attempted content addition. I did add it; it was an anon.--Jorfer 23:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I just used the revert button, so that's why I didn't put any explanation... unsourced, personal attacks added by anons tend to be revert button friendly. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 23:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

School is literally a dump[edit]

I'm not putting this school down, especially since this is the school where I graduated from. I've been on the newspaper and yearbook staff for two years and found a lot of interesting history from old publications. South Miami Senior High School was originally the site of a dump. Its still believed that remains of old metal debris is found under the top soil on the field. Hence the reason, due to any stormy activity, the faculty is forced to move all activities in doors no matter how small the storm may be. Coach Bill Arnold is known to be one of the lightning strike victims at the school.

In addition to the cobra mascot on the roof that was destroyed during hurricane Wilma. This is another cobra down due to hurricanes. Hurricane Andrew took out the one before that and the roof lay bare for a couple years.--Prequarius 02:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alma Mater[edit]

When I first came to this article, I was surprised to see that the Alma Mater read: "... through changes, challenges, pleasures and joy ...". As an alumnus, I have sung this song many times. The correct words are "... through changes, challenges, pleasures and tears ...". I confirmed this at http://smsh.dadeschools.net/chistory/index.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by SRBirch922 (talkcontribs) 23:42, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uniforms[edit]

Recently it's been stated that for the 2008-2009 school year, SMSH will have uniforms. Please add the appropriate info in the page. 76.18.28.232 (talk) 23:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Colors[edit]

We had a vote on those colors, no one chose orange and brown. At 66 I discover it was Burchell that rigged that vote. Sorry SOB. 2603:9001:4308:4525:5061:A44C:340A:F79 (talk) 04:09, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alumnus's real name[edit]

Any good reason why we should not include Pitbull's real name? [1] Armando Christian Pérez goes professionally by "Pitbull", but presumably he was not known by that name at school. We often include the person's real name in cases such as this where the person's article is under a professional name, but this edit keeps getting reverted.Meters (talk) 05:17, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
