Should be "Discourse on Universal History" I can't find any translations of Bossuet's work that render "Discours sur l'histoire universelle" as "Speech of Universal History". "Speech of" is, in my view, a strange translation of "Discours sur" in any case. Can this article title be changed? I'm not sure the content is very encyclopedic either, general lack of support for claims.

Yeah, it's an incorrect translation. Probably used Google Translate or something that doesn't work well like that to get it. The word has a number of meanings, in this case, it's either "Lectures on...." (probably the case, though I'd have to read it) or "Discourse on....". I'll probably edit this when I get the chance. Official doctrine?[edit]

It is untrue that Catholic Council Vatican II approves the views of Bossuet. The quotation in the article clearly puts God, and not the Church, at the center of human history, in a very significant clarification against some in the Church, who, at the time of the Council, defended Bossuet's position. My proposed wording for the beginning of the paragraph:

Current official doctrine of the Catholic Church sees God, and not the Church in its temporal institutions, as the center of universal history, as was most recently stated in the Second Vatican Council' s Gaudium et Spes document...
