oversimplification[edit]

"Its meaning is the philosophy that one should live in the present, without a care for tomorrow." [A] Bit of an oversimplification, surely.

"There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings" [B] - that is an entirely different meaning. If the sense of the aphorism has gradually moved from the original [B] to the current [A] because of misuse, one might at least acknowledge this rather than giving in to the dumbing down.
