Fair use rationale for Image:Logo surabaya.gif

Image:Logo surabaya.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I must ask ..

.. how can a city of seven million inhabitants and the second largest city of the world's fourth most populous nation have so little information on Wikipedia? I know it's hypocritic since I haven't made any contribution to the article whatsoever, and this is indeed not the most neglected article in context with its topic's significance, but anyways, I was just quite staggered when I saw this. 85.220.50.194 (talk) 16:20, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The picture of Surabaya cathedral is misleading. It is the picture of Kelahiran Santa Perawan Maria (The Birth of Immaculate Saint Mary) parish church instead, the oldest Catholic church in Surabaya. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.164.74.120 (talk) 04:54, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Citation

In my opinion, this page is lacking of citations. To make this page a good Wikipedia page, citations to reliable sources are needed. Do you agree? Should we post up the "This article needs additional citations for verification" box on the top of the page? Wikislemur (talk) 06:33, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Sport section

The information about the new home for Persebaya is outdated:

And the team home base is Gelora 10 November Stadium. Recently, the government planned to build a new stadium for the team. And it will be done on early 2009. The new stadium name will be Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT). It will be the second biggest stadium in Indonesia, after Gelora Bung Karno.

Could anybody update this with the new information? Wikislemur (talk) 15:43, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Religion in Surabaya

Could somebody please verify about the major religion in Surabaya? I recall that Islam is the major religion there, instead of Islam and Christianity. However I don't have a legitimate reference to make this edit. In the Indonesian language Wikipedia of Surabaya, Islam is the only religion mentioned as the major religion of Surabaya. Statistic results in percentage form from a legitimate source will clarify this. Thank you. Wikislemur (talk) 05:16, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

File:Soerabaiasch.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

An image used in this article, File:Soerabaiasch.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
