Remove "Current SMC Updates" section entirely[edit]

This section is completely out of date, and it doesn't distinguish between actual different models, i.e., my 2010 17-inch MacBook Pro has a different SMC version than the one listed here, because the one listed here is from 2006. In fact, all the models here are from 2006, apart from the 8 core Mac Pro, from 2007. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrianRecchia (talkcontribs) 00:15, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

UNDUE issues?[edit]

Hi all. I'm not editing this myself as I have a major dog in this fight, working at Apple. However, this article seems to be mostly slanted towards how awful, problematic and buggy the smc is. There's very little detail really in what it actually does and how it manages power states, thermal control, keyboard backlight, ALS, etc, etc. I could argue that there's not a whole lot of evidence that current or even relatively recent systems have issues like this. Back in the day, smc (or PMU) resets were a magic cure-all for what ailed a Mac, and I'm not entirely sure they were causative. Anyways .... thanks for listening :) - Alison 00:43, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
