Video head cleanerHead cleaner – Article is about head cleaners in general, and Head cleaner is currently occupied by a redirect. Relisted. —Darkwind (talk) 01:33, 23 April 2013 (UTC) Trivialist (talk) 02:05, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Support article also covers audio head cleaner. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:38, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment but this article does not to magnetic disk head cleaners, such as sold for 3.5" floppy drives, so not just magnetic tape. And it does not apply to optical drive head cleaners, so "head cleaner" is overly generic, since it would naturally cover CD head cleaners. So magnetic tape head cleaner is the better name. Head cleaner is not precise enough to identify the topic. We already have a head cleaner article for magnetic stripes of cards at cleaner card. This article can be expanded to cover cleaning magnetic data tapes, which also need cleaning. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 10:07, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I've disambiguated Head cleaner -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 10:12, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – but "Tape head cleaner" might be good. Dicklyon (talk) 23:15, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename to tape head cleaner per Dicklyon. While the current name is incorrect, the proposed name in the nomination is just unacceptable. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:20, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to Head cleaner: Although this article currently covers only magnetic tape (audio and video cassette) head cleaners, I am unable to find any mention of any other (e.g. optical) head cleaners elsewhere on Wikipedia. If such information is included in the future, one comprehensive Head cleaner article may be more useful than Tape head cleaner and Optical head cleaner (and probably easier to link from other articles). We generally try to use the least disambiguation necessary to define the article's topic (see WP:PRECISE and WP:NATURAL for specific language on this), and Tape head cleaner is unnecessarily disambiguated if there is no [Other] head cleaner with which head cleaner could be confused. • The cleaning card article covers the cleaning of the magnetic heads for reading magnetic stripe cards. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 05:02, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting thought, but that's not exactly a head cleaner though, is it? While my preference is still for Head cleaner, I see a weak consensus building around Tape head cleaner, and I must say I would prefer that title to the current Video head cleaner which clearly does not fit this article. The cleaning card is the head cleaner. -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 21:12, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:
  • Relister's comment: There is no evident consensus yet, especially because people keep proposing different titles. Rather than close with no consensus, I've relisted the discussion to allow additional discussion on which title, if any, is preferable. —Darkwind (talk) 01:33, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
