Article Re-Creation[edit]

Apparently, someone got over-zealous and deleted the original page. Thanks to the people who've re-created it. I've added the template box with a promo pic that Ted asked me to include (I run the Tourniquet DZ). If anyone has any issues with what's been done, please, please, please post here or contact me on my talk page. There was absolutely no need to delete the former page. 5minutes 12:49, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: apparently the original page violated some copyright issues, which necessitated its removal. However, I do feel that the original page could have been edited, rather than deleted. 5minutes 15:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I was going to work on editing it when I saw it was tagged for being a copyright violation but never got around to doing it.--E tac 17:54, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio issue[edit]

We have an OTRS email in at OTRS:2317720; I'm requesting an explicit GFDL release. Stifle (talk) 21:29, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Can anybody provide any evidence that Kirkpatrick meets either the notability criteria for musicians or the general notability guideline? The article at present offers none, nor does it seem to ever have done so. It's hard to be 100% sure with the Google News Archive still inaccessible, but I can't find any evidence for notability individual of the band, so I think redirecting to Tourniquet (band) is the best solution. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:57, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

'Keep' based on WP:MUSICBIO points #1 (he's had repeated articles in Heaven's Metal, Modern Drummer and other music-related magazines, not to mention pretty aggressive coverage in animal rights and vegetarian publications; and #7, as he's been routinely cited as one of the best drummers in the Christian music scene and has been cited as the best metal drummer in that scene many times over the course of 2 decades. I'd also throw in that he qualifies under #1 under WP:MUSICBIO - Others. Agreed, however, that the article needs some clean-up. 5minutes (talk) 23:12, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Can you provide links to any of those articles or to publications describing him in those terms? (If they're not available online, could you add citations to the article?) – Arms & Hearts (talk) 00:25, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will dig those up. It may take a while, tho. Here's a few to start off with: Article at Humane Society US, May 2004 article in Modern Drummer, Reference in Raised By Wolves: The Story of Christian Metal. 5minutes (talk) 01:04, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've dug up quite a few articles (with Ted's help) and have posted them in the article. There still needs to be a lot of cleanup to Wikify the article away from a news release and towards a more encyclopedic tone, but I think the notability issues have been settled. For the record, here's the list of some offline magazine articles I was given - several are reviews but others are interviews regarding his drumming and animal rights activism:
  • Modern Drummer - August 2000 - pg 29, 86, 123 - Fueled by a Higher Power
  • Modern Drummer - January 1991, pg 9 - Ted Kirkpatrick
  • Drum! - volume one, issue one - pg 29 - Tourniquet: Psychosurgery review
  • Guitar World - August 1993 - pg 71, 88-92 - The God Squad
  • Animal's Agenda - Jan/Feb 1991 - pg 44-47 - A Tale of Two Teds (Ted Nugent, Ted Kirkpatrick)
  • Metal Edge - July 2000 - pg 58-59 - Metal is Jericho
  • Metal Maniacs - August 2000 - pg 54 - Aural Assaults
  • Hit Parader - July 2000 - pg 74 - Reviews - The Latest in New Hard Rock
  • NAVS Bulletin (National Anti-vivisection Society) - Summer 1991 - pg 7 - NAVS Releases Dissection Video, PSA
  • Rock Brigade - Issue 19 November 2000 - pg 62 - Tourniquet: Em Nome De Deus
I'll keep an eye our for further references. 5minutes (talk) 13:32, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
