Sources[edit]

The article is laking on sources. Someone that could pay attention to that could really help. I could get some myself but it is better if any regular editor to this article takes notice.--Wikikidboy 11:07, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please help :-) I've noticed the lack of references in this any many MMA related articles. WP:BLP pretty much demands that we find references or delete material. I'd help here too, but just haven't gotten to it just yet. (By the way, you should start new discussions at the bottom of any discussion page, not the top.) See you around. Racist, anyone?[edit]

Tell me if I'm mistaken, but the way this is worded:

"Born to an American mother and a Mexican father, he spent many nights in juvenile detention facilities as a kid."

It sounds to me like this sentence points to his heritage as the reason for his wrongdoing. Anyone else see what I'm talking about? Tysis 21:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its only racist if you feel that one man's nationtally has no meaning

I dont get that impression

... umm how is that racist in any way. It states a fact then usses a comma and states a fact. I didn't see any racial hate words in there or anything like that... did you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.0.255 (talk) 08:46, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the sentence makes it sound like the reason he spent time in juvie was because of his heritage. it's poorly worded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.143.189 (talk) 23:33, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's not racists, its just that the person who wrote it has a poor sense of grammar. 68.79.171.54 (talk) 01:12, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't necessarily sound racist but it does imply the two issues are related otherwise why string them together in the same sentence? It's poorly worded and if possible should be corrected. 70.254.34.0 (talk) 07:09, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed on my watchlist you are working to figure out why the page is protected. I don't think it would be appropriate for an uninvolved admin to make significant changes such as these. Hopefully Yamla will be around to explain what the situation is. CMummert · talk 13:02, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The summary is that this article is being targeted by Verdict (talk · contribs) who has long been banned by community consensus. As such, it is quite reasonable to make edits requested by anyone who is definitely not Verdict (talk · contribs) or one of his more than one hundred sockpuppets. --Yamla 14:35, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sancho does not appear to be. Actually, he seems to be one of the first people requesting an unblock on a wrestling article in the past six weeks who was not. The other twenty or thirty were. --Yamla 20:53, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page says Tito Ortiz will be fighting Rashad Evans at UFC 72, when in acuality, he will be fighting him at UFC 73.

Request an edit 2[edit]

add the paragraph about tito and dana fight which never happend, should read simliar to the way it does on white's wiki page

"White was scheduled to make his professional boxing debut against his former client Tito Ortiz on March 24, 2007. In Ortiz's re-signing with the UFC in 2005, he added a stipulation that he and White would fight in a three-round boxing exhibition, ostensibly "to work out their differences."[3] The Nevada State Athletic Commission did not believe this would be an "exhibition" match, and White, in addition to training, had to apply for a fighting licence, which was granted for this one fight. However, Ortiz did not appear at the weigh-in and the fight never occurred. Ortiz called White beforehand, leaving him a message saying he was "letting him off the hook," but White assumed Tito was trying to get him to stop training only to later say he wanted to fight, and did not interpret this to mean Ortiz was actually canceling the match. The members of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, several of whom had reservations about sanctioning the match to begin with, were not pleased with Ortiz' backing out of the fight. The NSAC told White they would never again consider allowing the contest, and that furthermore, they did not want White and Ortiz to fight anywhere out of their purview.[4]"

T-shirts[edit]

This entire section as well as the section on entrance music is pointless trivia and should be removed entirely. (I tried to but was reverted.) 193.11.234.68 (talk) 18:10, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need to elongate the t-shirt box by adding the fact that he lost in there?I just think it's stupid if he didn't wear a shirt.(MgTurtle (talk) 18:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Yes it needs to be there because when losing he alters what he was going to wear. I am currently trying to find his old matches to watch to see what he wore in UFC 13, 44, and 47 which is why the slogan isn't there yet.Swampfire (talk) 21:57, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But if he didn't wear a t-shirt, should it be in the box?(MgTurtle (talk) 01:36, 7 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

You're not making sense, everyone that is filled in he wore a shirt. There are 4 blank ones because we are still trying to find what he wore. Swampfire (talk) 01:42, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He didn't wear a shirt after neither Albritton nor Mezger (UFC 13). Just checked. --aktsu (t / c) 02:03, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had a feeling he might not of worn a shirt in UFC 13 for either fight because it was his first fights. He started in UFC 13 as an alternate. So since it was his first ones I didn't think he would of did it then. I'm pretty sure for both 44 and 47 he had other bragging shirts ready, But since he lost, he either didnt wear one, or put on just a regular shirt. Swampfire (talk) 02:24, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No shirt/slogan after vs Couture at UFC 44 either. BTW, apparently he have listed all his t-shirt-slogans in his book ("This is gonna hurt") if anyone is interested in looking it up... --aktsu (t / c) 03:13, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the statement he made after 44 was instead of puuting on the shirt he had made if he won. was to put the title around Coutures waist himself. Also almost all of his shirts are for sale on his website.Swampfire (talk) 03:48, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I didn't see what you meant.Sorry.You still don't have to be rude.(MgTurtle (talk) 02:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I wasn't being rude. I did not understand what you were saying. Because you said if he wasn't wearing a shirt should it be in the box. To which I pointed out there wasn't a box saying he wasn't wearing a shirt. Swampfire (talk) 02:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No what i meant was if there was a fight where he did not wear a shirt, should that be mentioned in the box or not.Because if the box is for his shirts and he didn't wear a shirt, it doesn't need to be in the box.Maybe the sentenced before the box can say when he started wearing the shirts regularly or something.(MgTurtle (talk) 13:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)).[reply]

If he didn't wear a shirt I don't see why it should be listed. I'll remove the fights where we know he didn't wear one now.--aktsu (t / c) 21:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added a T-shirt that Ortiz wore during the weigh-ins to his fight with Machida. Wasn't sure how to add it, so I added it underneath the box as more of a side note. Wingedregent (talk) 00:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is wrong with you people? A complete list of what goddamn shirts somebody wore does not belong in an encyclopedia. Neither does a complete listing of entrance music (which is conspicously absent from pretty much every other fighter's page). This, if anything, if what should be said on wikipedia about Tito Ortiz's shirts: "Tito is known for wearing T-shirts with provocative messages" and then maybe an example or two. 84.216.56.19 (talk) 14:23, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and have removed them now. --aktsu (t / c) 14:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks mesed up.Can someone fix it?I just don't want to mess it up further than it already is.(MgTurtle (talk) 20:25, 8 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Done, I just removed it as it was supposed to be a link to an article mentioning his "upcoming" fight with Lyoto, a fight we already know happend - and is mentioned in what was citation 10 (now 9). --aktsu (t / c) 21:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism?[edit]

Tito should have a section titled "Criticism" in which any criticism of him could be listed. Then if people have criticism they want listed and have properly referenced they can list it there. You cannot tell me that people don't have criticisms of him. Somebody was just posting on here about how Tito's page is one of the most vandalized pages they have ever seen. Maybe if people could list some criticisms of him then his page wouldn't get vandalized so much. Just think about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.0.255 (talk) 07:32, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Title Defense Against Evan Tanner[edit]

Does it matter that Evan was Knocked out by Tito's forehead smashing into his left temple constituting an obvous headbutt. Shouldn't that be considered illegal or is it not illegal because it was clearly not on purpose? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.0.255 (talk) 05:11, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

His nationality should not be listed as "Mexican American". Nationality does not refer to heritage nor that he wears both a Mexican and American flag into the ring, it refers to the country one is currently residing in. He cannot be 2 different nationalities, hes either mexican or american. Regardless of where he was born, he lives in the U.S. therefore you should stop changing it to "Mexican American".

Santa Ana is not in Mexico. Perhaps we can add him to the Canadian Portal as well. --Hutcher (talk) 04:13, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Domestic Violence[edit]

Tito Ortiz was reportedly arrested today for domestic violence. This is being claimed by TMZ, http://www.tmz.com/2010/04/26/tito-ortiz-arrested-for-domestic-violence-jeanna-jameson/. We should wait for a secondary source, that is more reliable than TMZ, until it gets put into the article. BrendanFrye (talk) 19:40, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sherdog is valid enough as a source, see link [4] AcePuppy (talk) 19:59, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, they are just reporting what TMZ previously reported. We need a reliable source for a BLP article. Remember Kimo? That was TMZs doing. BrendanFrye (talk) 20:01, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
From BLP policy: "Remove immediately any contentious material about a living person that is unsourced or poorly sourced; that is a conjectural interpretation of a source (see No original research); that relies on self-published sources, unless written by the subject of the BLP (see below); or that relies on sources that fail in some other way to comply with Verifiability. The three-revert rule does not apply to such removals. Editors who find themselves in edit wars over potentially defamatory material about living persons should bring the matter to the BLP noticeboard." UFC 132[edit]

The "Mixed Martial Arts Record" section at the end of the article shows that Tito Ortiz has already lost a fight in UFC 132 which hasn't even happened yet. This is likely vandalism. UFC 13 / Amateur Fight.[edit]

While watching UFC 13, one of the announcers mentioned that Tito Ortiz was not being paid for his two fights that night and that he was doing it just for experience. So, should his two fights from UFC 13 not be listed under "Professional MMA Fights"? "Acting" section[edit]

I believe that the acting section should probably be removed. I have added a detailed and subsectioned filmography for Ortiz, and I don't believe the acting section contributes much to the page. Nationality is based on citizenship[edit]

Whoever made the first comment about nationality said that Mexican-American can not be the correct nationality for Tito because Nationality is based on where you live.

He also said lots of things that were flat out wrong. I was so annoyed by his ignorance I decided to add this comment explaining why everything he said was wrong.

Nationality is based on citizenship, not where you live, and you can be a citizen to 2 countries. It’s called a dual citizen. I have dual citizenship and am an American and Mexican citizen that lives in America. 2600:1004:B238:3F0F:D169:EF1:ABF9:1E52 (talk) 20:18, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
