Re-wrote entire article after PROD. Someone who actually thinks this is a good idea (not the page, but the subject itself) please, please, please take over this article. ASCAP does not require a license...[edit]

Certainly incorrect. Please provide source for this. The reason for the invention of CCLI is because of the copyright infringements of churches -- it has nothing to do if the effort is profit generating or not. The copyright holders of church music were suing other churches, what do you think a securlar ASCAP has to say? This argument has been used falsely for years by churches for their violating of copyright.Tiggerjay (talk) 16:18, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The licence is not required in this instance because U2 has specifically exempted royalties as long as the the event complies with the terms listed.
