They are independently owned and autonomously administered. They may be hired out by a variety of persons or groups, subject only to the local rules of a given Union Church e.g., Mangrove Mountain Union Church requires that those using it assent to the Nicene Creed. Some of those renting out a Union Church may be denominationally affiliated and others may not. A person or group renting out a Union Church at one point in time is independent from, and has no onnection with, or no necessary connection with, with any other person or group renting out the Union Church at any other time. Union Churches have been historically used in more rural parts of New South Wales.

trust[edit]

I'm aware that the wikilink from trust goes to a DAB, but I can't find a better place to point it, and it's an important wikilink.

The article on charitable trust is the obvious one among those listed at the DAB, but Australia is not among the countries whose laws are described there, and while I think we do have such a concept in law I'm doubtful that the Union Church trusts are examples. Renmark West Union Church[edit]

Obviously still an active church and probably formerly a Union Church, but now part of the Uniting Church in Australia and a Union Church only in name.

Two more examples[edit]

There is an operating Union Church at Curra Creek. A friend's funeral is about to be conducted there. As with many Union Churches it doesn't even have an address, but it's at https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Hollington,+1039+Curra+Creek+Rd,+Curra+Creek+NSW+2820

There is possibly another one at Geurie Union Church, I found it when searching for Curra Creek Union Church in Google Maps Australia. https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Geurie+Union+Church
