Vandalism[edit]

There are some articles on Wikipedia (notably this one, the 2023 Michigan Wolverines football team article, and the College Football Playoff National Championship article) which are being edited by trolls, such as them committing vandalism by deleting valid sourced information from the NCAA, and adding opinions from rival fanbases to the article without valid sources, which fail to maintain a neutral point of view.

I recently had information I added to this page deleted by a non-registered user. I cited valid sourced information from the NCAA, but it has been restored by another user. I’ve noticed these types of edit wars are becoming a trend on pages related to University of Michigan athletics. I don’t know if this is merely rival fans who are upset, but something should be done about this.

Don't turn this in to an edit war. If you feel so strongly that these should be added, or that some information should be removed, we can discuss it with a Wikipedia admin. But it's unlikely to be considered relevant for the reasons noted above. If it keeps happening, I'll go through the proper channels to have these pages auto-protected from unregistered users. Jweiss11 Do you disagree with the move? I thought the move was uncontroversial, as we never refer to "University of Michigan football", but feel free to revert if you disagree. You're correct that we generally do not refer to "University of Michigan football" in the context of typical football articles, but you can see how we've named these analogous scandal articles. I guess the augment for that naming scheme could be that the scandals typically transcend the programs themselves and extend to the athletic department and university administrations? Yeah, I made a couple quick cleanup edits to this article, but I'm reticent to spend much time expanding it because it's been such a media circus thus far and what we know is probably loaded with misinformation and disinformation. FWIW I was going to name it "Michigan football sign-stealing scandal" or "Michigan Wolverines football sign-stealing scandal" but then changed to "University of Michigan football sign-stealing scandal" when I saw the already existing "University of Michigan basketball scandal". Article needs to be vastly expanded[edit]

I think some sort of section labeling the impacts the scandal had on previous seasons should be highlighted. It's important to detail how much this effed with everything. Robbed players on opposing teams (such as C.J. Stroud) of accolades, wins, and in the case of Ohio State, a chance at the Big Ten title game—I may be a bit biased.
