Disputed[edit]

This article claims that McKenzie was the first female bishop of any denomination. She was ordained in 2000. The Rev. Penny Jamieson had been Anglican diocesan bishop of Dunedin in New Zealand for eleven years by 2000. And she was only the first diocesan bishop (she was the second bishop of any sort). I don't see how Vashti Murphy McKenzie's claim to be the first woman bishop of any major denomination can be supported as true. Grutness...wha? 01:53, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First in American. Sorry, I should have been more specific. -- Psy guy Talk 04:15, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - that sounds better. I'm not sure who beat Jamieson to be the first woman Anglican bishop, but unless that was in the U.S., I've no objection to thatr rewording. Grutness...wha? 08:05, 2 April 2006 (UTC) right[reply]
For the record, the first American woman bishop was Barbara Harris, consecrated Suffrigan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts in 1989.PMCH2 (talk) 12:17, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have not idea why there is a link the The Fab Empire in External links. I suggest it be removed. GrizzlySound (talk) 02:23, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
