This article claims that McKenzie was the first female bishop of any denomination. She was ordained in 2000. The Rev. Penny Jamieson had been Anglican diocesan bishop of Dunedin in New Zealand for eleven years by 2000. And she was only the first diocesan bishop (she was the second bishop of any sort).
