Copyright problem removed[edit]

One or more portions of this article duplicated other source(s). The material was copied from: http://www.vembadi.org/. Infringing material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with these policies. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:29, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article was re-written under fair use by User:Kudpung, other wise at the same Wikipedia can't come out with a reference sourced articles meeting WP:RS. I need a valid explanation on this regard, otherwise I will take this issue for Rfc for a wider community consensus.Regards.Shankar2001 (talk) 01:45, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did not rewrite this article. I copyedited it for grammar and style, removing peacock (promotional) terms and other non essential or unencyclopedic content per WP:WPSCH. This does not infer that I endorse or contest now, or that I endorsed or contested at any other time, any of the copyright use regarding the content that was in it or that may still be in it. --Kudpung (talk) 02:16, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the comment. Can you kindly explain, how the para/sentence which you have edited, violates the copyright. Vembadi Girls’ High School was begun by Methodist Missionaries who arrived from England, establishing this English school called as The Weslyan Central School in the present Vembadi premises. The school was later split into a school for girls, and a school for boys, the Jaffna Central CollegeShankar2001 (talk) 03:21, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't need your explanation, I got the point. I will expand the article without copyright violation sooner or later. Regards.Shankar2001 (talk) 03:39, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Please read again my message above. Any copyright infringement identified by another editor appeared to be sufficiently serious however, that an administrator has blocked access to the offending diffs (see the edit summaries). Please read WP:COPYVIO then contact the admin direct if you still do not understand, and please take a look at WP:TPG before posting more comments. Thank you.Kudpung (talk) 03:45, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your advice and suggestion.Regards.Shankar2001 (talk) 04:51, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This addition was a clear copyright violation. Even after Kudpung's copyedit the two sentences you quoted very closely followed three sentences present in the source I cited above. While they were no longer word-for-word copies we were left with a derivative work, which is still a copyright problem. In order to avoid original research you must take facts from reliable sources, this does not mean that you must (or can) take the creative language and structure of the prose from those reliable sources. Thanks, I got your point. I will expand the article according to Wikipedia guidelines. Regards.Shankar2001 (talk) 14:19, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
